When I said I would be OK with taking Eugene Monroe at #3

all I heard was that you don't take a right tackle that high. Does everyone still feel that way now that our franchise QB is a punching bag?

You don't take a Right Tackle that high and nothing leads me to believe Tyson Jackson was a bad pick.

The problem is that there were some stopgap veterans available for any of those 3 positions. And you could easily get a decent RT, C, Guard in the 3rd or 4th round. The Chiefs passed both times.

The options at o-line weren't outstanding. But they were there. And the Chiefs passed at every turn.

I'm not saying that Jackson was a bad pick. I'm just saying if we had Albert and Monroe, 2/5 of our O-Line would be set for a long time.

Not really. Monroe wouldn't want to stay at LT in the longrun. He'd just eventually leave for LT money.

And the fact the remains that you don't need to spend high picks to find a good RT.

Actually, it's not a myth.

NFL ****ing history proves it's not a myth.

That's just absolutely nuts. If you have one and can get two and lock them up, do it. It isn't a question of high picks or money. Two top OTs mean a lot more than filling two roster spots. They mean better rushing, higher probabilty of keeping QB healthy (as well as each other healthy, as when one OT whiffs, the other is in danger of getting rolled up - why the great OLs always tended to STAY HEALTHY). No brainer.

Tyson Jackson is Brett Kiesel with dreds...

Monroe is a franchise OT.

I'm not sure what the entire acronym stands for, but the first two letters are looking like, "True Fan..."

If Tyson Jackson is Brett Kiesel, then it's an outstanding pick. Kiesel is a critical piece to the Steelers' defense which, in case you haven't checked, is pretty darn good.

I agree with you that the right side of the o-line needed to be improved. But so did our D-line. And here's a simple truth: getting a quality D-linemen outside of the first round is a crapshoot. Getting a good Guard, Center, and/or Right Tackle outside of the first round isn't that hard to do. Especially given that the best Centers and Guards are rarely ever taken in the top 25.

Actually, probably not set for a long time....they would have trouble keeping Monroe happy, as he expects to be a LT at some point.

Remember, a large part of Tait's departure was the fact that he wanted to be a LT... and paid like a LT.

You don't take a 5 technique DE that high. Now he is the highest paid EVER. A RT would be much better that high especially after you went out and got a QB. I'm sure you guys have some sort of rational to justify it though.

Don't you get it? Whatever the Pats did, that's what the Chiefs should do...

Tyson Jackson is no Richard Seymour. Tyson wasn't even a good pass rusher as a 4-3 DE at LSU. He is Brett Keisel with dreds.

We should have a rule here. The ORT cannot be a high draft pick or a big money FA. If he sukks and gets the QB hurt, that's great as long as he wasn't a First or getting big bucks...
