Downs Walk
Hey Everyone,
We are walking in the Downs Walk in KC and this is info on it. Just check it out because this is something we love to do! We don't expect for you to walk, but any donations would be awesome! Thanks! Join Liran's Line-up! Saturday, October 24 marks the date of the 2009 Step Up for Down Syndrome Walk in Kansas City, MO. As Liran's family, we are creating a team in his honor called Liran's Line-up in order to celebrate the day, which is sure to be a lot of fun! Bring your family to join ours! (See a short video starring Liran at http://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=http...59234c3ed60a01 ) The goal of the Step Up for Down Syndrome Walk is to celebrate our friends and loved ones with Down syndrome, and to raise money to support the Down Syndrome Guild of Greater Kansas City (DSG). The day consists of food, festivities, (including Radio Disney on stage) and many children's activities. This culminates in the walk, which takes place around Kauffman and Arrowhead Stadiums, led by KC Wolf! At the finish line, participants will have the opportunity to meet the Kansas City Chiefs offensive line and take pictures! It will be a great time, and we would love for you to join us! If you are unable to attend, but would like to make a donation to help support the KCDSG it would be very much appreciated. To register for the walk, or make a donation, please visit our team page at the following link: http://www.stepupfordownsyndromekc.o...9-d3a0d45656d4 Registration should be completed by September 25, and donations for the KCDSG are appreciated by October 17. Thank you and we hope to see you there! |

Good for you, jwazzie.
Off topic, but I was at a charity event a couple of nights ago, and there was a guy with Down's Syndrome sitting at the next table. The fascinating thing to me was that he was with another guy who I'm guessing was his brother, and possibly even his twin brother, but without Down's Syndrome. I don't know how to say this properly or with correct sensitivity, but if you took away the classic Down's Syndrome features from the one guy, the resemblance to the other guy would've been uncanny. I know that you couldn't have identical twins where one has Down's and the other doesn't, but is it possible to have fraternal twins with that distinction? I would think so. Anyway, it was an interesting case study and kind of made me wonder about the different paths their lives may have taken because of one tiny difference that occurred in utero. Plus, the sound system at the event was really bad and I couldn't understand the speakers, so I had lots of time to think.
