Niswanger's reign of terror ends

http://www.kansascity.com/sports/chi...y/1531813.html

Injury update on Niswanger, Albert

Haley said center Rudy Niswanger’s injured left knee was being examined Monday, and he is not expected to be available for the game at Jacksonville.

Although Wade Smith moved from left tackle and replaced Niswanger against San Diego, he may not play the position against Jacksonville. Haley said backup lineman Andy Alleman is a possibility to play, as well as a practice-squad player Darryl Harris.

“We have some center options, Wade being one of them,” Haley said.

Haley also said starting left tackle Branden Albert, who has missed the last two games because of an ankle injury, is expected to practice this week and be available for Jacksonville.

You know what? I'm actually looking forward to that Jacksonville game. Some new bodies like Harris on that line is what we need.

Not expecting anything spectacular, but maybe... just maybe... it will be an improvement.

And hell, with a new starting RB who the hell knows?

That's sort of what happened when DV finally opened his eyes and realized that Priest Holmes was a monster. For all we know the practice squad scrub could be the second-coming of Casey Wiggum...

it sure would be sweet if Wade Smith solidifies the starting center position and Rudy is inserted at RG whenever he returns.

This isnt a total abortion of a oline:

Albert
Waters
Smith
Rudy
Ocallahan

Harris is a far better guard that Niswanger.

And Richardson may be a better left tackle than Albert, which may require Albert to move inside to LG.

**** Waters. He's not the future, anyway.

Harris has never played RG according to his KCChiefs bio, what are you basing your opinion on (Im not trying to challenge you, honestly want to be better informed) Rudy played very well at RG when he played there a year or so ago.

Barry Richardson is in no way shape or form a better LT than Albert.

The longer he plays, the higher the chance of injuries to our backs and Cassel. IMHO

Didnt Barry gave up the two sacks to Phillips?

Phillips got both his sacks against Goff. Merriman was largely shut down by B-Rich.

McSack could have handled that turd yesterday.

He has not been the same since he quit the roids IMHO, just like John Welborn back in the day. Probowler on the Eagles while on the juice, he goes to KC and still juices till his retirement (or s I immediatly speculated and was proven to be true, he failed a drug test and wanted to hide it and CP helped out), then comes back like a shell of his former self a short while later.

Not sure what to make of that because Merriman has been shut down by everyone since he stopped taking his special supplement.

Ugh.

Harris played all five positions in college. He excelled at left guard in preseason but I have no doubt that with his size and athleticism, he could fill a need at LG, RG and even RT. With a transition period, of course.

Richardson, for a 6th round pick on the 53 for a short period of time played extremely well. He didn't commit any penalties that I recall and he didn't shit his pants.

Look, I want to see PROGRESS, not perfection on the offensive line. And Smith at center and Richardson at LT actually showed a little something.

Now, if Cassel could actually hit the open receiver, we might be on to something.

Richardson has had years playing LT with the proper technique, and he's solid, but, while he may be better right now because he has that experience, Albert still has far more potential.
