![]() Chiefs Announce Coaching Staff Changes Jan 28, 2010, 5:35:17 PM The Kansas City Chiefs announced on Thursday that the club has made several changes to Head Coach Todd Haley’s coaching staff. The following assistant coaches have joined the Chiefs staff: Richie Anderson (Wide Receivers): Anderson served an NFL minority coaching fellowship with Kansas City in 2009. He previously worked as a tight ends/asst. wide receivers coach with the N.Y. Jets in 2006. A 13-year NFL veteran as a fullback, Anderson appeared in 161 regular season games (88 starts) for the N.Y. Jets (1993-02) and Dallas (2003-05). He rushed 318 times for 1,274 yards with four TDs and caught 400 passes for 3,149 yards with 14 TDs. He was selected to the Pro Bowl following the 2000 season and saw action in five career postseason games. Anderson entered the NFL as a sixth-round selection (144th overall) of the N.Y. Jets in the ‘93 NFL Draft. The Silver Spring, Maryland native played collegiately at Penn State. Anthony Pleasant (Assistant Coach – Defense): Pleasant originally joined the Chiefs as an NFL minority fellowship coach in 2009. A 14-year NFL defensive lineman, Pleasant played in 202 regular season games (157 starts) with Cleveland (’90-95), Baltimore (’96), Atlanta (’97), the N.Y. Jets (’98-99), San Francisco (2000) and New England (2001-03). He finished his career with 598 tackles (407 solo), 58.0 sacks, two INTs, 13 forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. He also started seven career playoff games, earning two Super Bowl rings with the Patriots. The Century, Florida native entered the league as a third-round pick (73rd overall) of Cleveland in ‘90 out of Tennessee State. The Chiefs also announced that Pat Perles has been reassigned on the coaching staff. Perles will now serve as the club’s assistant offensive line coach after working as Kansas City’s defensive quality control coach in 2009. In addition, the Chiefs also announced that Bob Bicknell, Clancy Pendergast and Dedric Ward will not return to the coaching staff. |

Hmm, only one that makes me raise an eyebrow is Dedric Ward given that he had shit to work with and our receivers by and large underachieved in and of themselves. *cough*Bowe*cough*

As I understand it, Romeo Crennell will coach the D-Line as well as being the DC, but the addition of Pleasant as the asst. coach-defense is almost certainly the position that will actually be dedicated to coaching the line on a full time basis.

Absolutely not.
I would have hired outside of the Parcells tree. I'm not disappointed about Pleasant but Parmalee's hire is questionable. The biggest problem I have with these guys is legacy: Who have they coached up? This is a young team in need of guidance. Time will tell if it's just more of the same or if the positions these guys coach show tangible improvement. |

Pleasant was a DL on Crennel coached teams most of his career. He knows whats up and will probably be the DL coach... but that will obviously be Crennels #1 focus but that allows him to focus more on the rest of the defense knowing someone who knows his techniques inside out is coaching his DL.
