About the defense, now what?
What can we come to think about it after making only two defensive selections?
From personnel perspective, the Chiefs only REAL improvement comes from the secondary imo. Adding Berry will help A LOT. I feel confident in the secondary, but Im still concerned about the lack of talent in the front 7. CB's are solid, Berry can be a superstar in this league. Arenas possibly improves the nickel defense, I don't know? But I think it is evidently clear they weren't drafting any linebackers this year which is extremely disappointing. I think going into next year DJ, Vrabel and Hali are the linebackers, but, they should've drafted at LEAST 1 linebacker in the 2nd round. Its obvious now they believe in Vrabel and DJ, I mean I could see there actions behind that, they gave DJ a first round tender offer and extended Vrabel's contract. That points to all signs they were drafting any linebackers and was the case. And I guess the same thing could be said about the nose? Shaun Smith is a guy they signed for a reason. They had a chance to draft Cody, or Cam Thomas but passed on both. Im guessing our only hope for players to step up and/or surprise. I hope Shaun Smith can do the job? I hope Dorsey and TJ stepup and breakout. Were gonna need them to. Can Vrabel play back to old form under Crennel? Or will DJ be a different player? who knows? maybe the coaching will help? Having Romeo and adding new defensive assistants will help. Maybe the players will respond to a better scheme or coaching. That is the only positive thing I can really focus on when I think of defense for this team. What are your thoughts? Please add. Thanks. |

The board was falling like we were the only team drafting. Everson Griffen Daryl Washington Koa Misi Sergio Kindle Linval Joseph Sean Lee Terrence Cody Major Wright Chad Jones Donald Butler All guys we passed on at some point in the night. Take any combination of 3 or 4 guys off that list instead of the players we took, and this defense is fixed for the next decade. Instead, we still have the worst front 7 in the league. But we have 2 nickle corners, 3 slot WR's and 4 TE's. Much more important. |

You dont understand draft strategy nor Pioli's genious. With our D, we needed those two return guys in the 2nd round. Kick return will be a dire need.

Switch to a Cowboys type aggressive 3-4.
Move Dorsey to the Nose and hope he plays like Ratliff. Hope McGee, Gilberry and Jackson get better without Mr. Slappy coaching them. Hope Studebaker develops and there is some kind of OLB available in the 5th round (Norwood?) Hope DJ matures and Belcher develops. ETA: Hope improvements to the secondary gives the line time to get to the QB. Hope the offense and ST score a lot of points. Whole lot of hoping going on. |

I'm really getting the feeling that Dorsey will play NT this year.
