Hiking in British Columbia
Flying into Seattle Friday, staying for a week. Where should we look at hiking/camping?

some good choices are Birkenhead Lake Provincial Park ..which is located past Whistler and near the town of Pemberton. Black Tusk near Whistler is amazing...but it's a tough tough hike up to the Garibaldi Lake. You then hike up to the top of the Tusk the next day...(Black Tusk refers to an eroded volcano shute at the top of the mountain). Diamondhead is also good...also located in Garibaldi Provincial Park.

Hit one of the Islands within the Vancouver Gulf. Maybe Pender or Salt Spring.

I think an Air horn would be better. I think you are supposed to stand your ground. Or you could tell them they are beautiful and try and hug them like Grizzly Man. |

Hiking? Drive south toward Mt. St. Helens and hike the Ape Caves. 1900 year old lava tunnels in the mountain, and it is an awesome hike. My suggestion is to hike up the mountain and down the tunnels, rather than vice versa.
You will need a lamp as it's pitch dark down there, and dress warmly. It's always 48 degrees down there. Always. Check it out. http://www.mountsthelens.com/ape-caves.html |
