X and O Guys - How Did Denver Just Shut down the Chiefs Blitz?

All with football acumen please help me understand. Why didn't the Chiefs Defense touch 5 head, neck bone at least once or twice?

According to ESPN, we only blitzed on 6 passing plays. Not hard to stop a blitz that doesn't exist.

That's what I saw too but hell, I'm not good at picking this stuff out. Seems like they deviated far from what took them to the dance.

Better beat these boys at Arrowhead.

I've seen this team sack Manning and then have him burn us for big yards on the next play. The defense kept them in the game about as well as you can when playing Manning. Julian Thomas got away with a pushoff big time on that long pass play and a Manning got bailed out by a couple of phantom defensive holding calls.

Which Chief was it that scored a TD by pushing off, was that Bowe?

Other thing to keep in mind is Peyton leans on the running game a shitload more than he has in many years. Blitzing isn't going to work. I thought we played him extremely well today. Take one broken Cooper play away and this is a stellar defensive performance, especially given the altitude.

It was still a great defensive performance. DEN O vs. KC D was a dogfight. I think the game fell to the KC O vs. the DEN D, and the DEN D won its battles for the most part.

I was really pissed about that push off myself, but then Bowe got by with one as well on his TD. I just marked it down as a makeup non-call.

To say that Manning is important to the NFL and the networks being healthy, would be an understatement, so the holding was not called against Denver on Hali, Houston and Poe.

Could you elaborate on that? Not being a smart ass but I'd love to be able to talk x and o's with the Donko fans tomorrow.

Peyton. Manning.

The guy is a master at reading a defense and getting the ball out almost instantly.

We were running press man coverage while sending four pass rushers most of the game. That means we have one less guy blitzing the QB than they have blocking for him (sometimes two when the back stays in for pass protection). So from the start we're at a disadvantage in that department.

Now you take into account the Broncos offensive gameplan: short, crossing and pick routes designed to free up their receivers quickly in order for Manning to get the ball out quickly. Peyton had the ball out of his hands within 2.5 seconds on a majority of his throws.

You know how hard it is to travel 5 yards and tackle a guy with a 300 pound man in your way in 2.5 seconds?
