Look, I work in advertising. Sometimes I wonder what dipshit strategist is selling these ideas to his clients and to the NFL. There's such a thing as NEGATIVE brand recognition, and this is a textbook example. It's one thing if you pay a network/league to arrange to have the announcers say "And now the offense has entered the red zone, brought to you by Toyota." But putting it on the field is just going to piss people off and create a distaste for your brand and your advertising, no matter where it appears from then on.

This is just stupid.

You can always freelance. If you can put together a good book of lines/body copy you can work for anyone. I get books sent to me all the time by guys with little to no experience. Some of them are good enough that we actually use them.

If you can write you can write. A degree and experience just makes it easier to get your foot in the door. My ECD has no degree. Got his job by showing off ads he'd written for the Thrifty Nickel to DDB in something like 1975. He's a badass and he has no formal education.

My hopes is this is just a test run. Once they get significant negative blowback, they"ll probably go another way. At least in the short term.

I lost the KFC account(local coupons) due to corporate raising franchise advertising fees to help sponsor Thursday Night Football on NFL Network a couple of years ago.

So there I am watching the pregame and the Colonel's face is on both sides of the panel,go to commercial and the KFC ad is for a weekend special not even valid on Thursdays.
