One thing to like in QBs of this draft:
Here's something uncommon in drafts among the QB prospects: nearly all of them have outstanding size.

Wilson will not be an NFL QB. He is worse than Hogan and Hogan is backup material at best.

is 6'7" really elite size? Is there any precedence for a QB that big being successful? I'm asking because I can't think of one. I remember that being a knock on Osweiler when he was coming out.

However, Lynch at that size is somewhat of an anomaly. Most of those guys are statues, but Lynch is a pretty athletic dude. Also, as linemen (both sides) continue to get taller, the height of the QB is more important. Being able to periphrial the field is important and having the ability to do so at 6'7" is an advantage. 6'4" is the norm for "prototype" at this point and having an additional 3" is a bonus if it's not detrimental to the athletic ability of the QB. (Most of those types of dudes are playing basketball versus football, so you don't see the 6'7", 245 lb'er on the gridiron versus the hardwood if they are any type of athlete.) |
