Let's talk about the Steelers...
Here we go, one of the games we circled this year.... although I don't think anyone expected us to be headed back home for this one at 5-0, or for Pittsburgh to be 3-2.
We know the story. They had our number in 2016 with two crushing losses. A lot has changed in 9 months, though.... For one, quarterback play. Alex Smith 2.0 is legitimately playing like the best QB in the NFL right now. Ben Roethlisberger, coming off of a 5 interception performance, looks like one of the worst. He also showed his dramatic nature yesterday when he questioned if he had what it takes anymore toward the media. Pittsburgh currently has the 28th ranked run defense in the NFL, and Kareem Hunt is playing like the NFL's best RB. Seems like a good recipe for us, especially since Mitch Morse and/or LDT should be back for Sunday. I would guess only Morse. Le'Veon Bell is not playing up to his normal standards thus far, as he has only looked dominant in one game. However, this looks like a tough matchup for us there, as we are the 20th ranked run defense and coming off of a bad performance Sunday night in that regard. Both offensive lines are solid groups, although Pittsburgh's has not been as dominant as they were last year. Pittsburgh has the #1 ranked pass defense right now. Part of that likely stems from their quality of opponents so far. However, we are going to need Kelce Sunday. If the Chiefs have their three-headed monster against Pittsburgh, they are going to be able to put up points. I think they would against about anyone, if Smith is given serviceable pass protection. Our pass defense is struggling statistically, although anyone who watched last night could tell you that they were almost always in position to make plays on the back end. The Houston receivers always made the play, though, unfortunately. The Chiefs could really use the boost of Dee Ford and Tamba Hali to help bring pressure off of both edges consistently. I think we will probably see Dee this week, but who knows. The great thing about being 5-0 right now is they still have a lot of room to improve. The defense is no where near as good as they can be. Hopefully they hit stride down the stretch in Dec/Jan when the temps drop down. Predictions are highly dependent on injuries, but because of all of the drama in Pittsburgh right now and KC being at home-- I am taking KC. Chiefs 30, Steelers 24 |

Our pass defense was leading the league in completion % before last night and although Watson threw for 5 TDs he was only like 18 for 35.

There were legitimately like 5 passes that we could have picked off, and 4 or 5 prayers that Watson threw up and got lucky on. Tough night back there for luck.

Roeth is likely done after this season. Let's make this decision a certainty for him.

Both Philly and Houston had garbage time TDs...it kind of inflates KCs pass defense statistics.
Houston's WRs made good plays on jump balls...but it's not like KC was in poor position. |

Steelers will be looking to bounce back after a bad game against the Jaguars. Especially Big Ben.

Wasnt the scenario about the same last year when we played them in the regular season (record was iffy....kind of on a bad streak of play)........then boom, they came out firing on all cylinders against us and went on a roll?
Yeah, I expect the same effort this week from Pitt/tomlin. I despise them, so I hope we come out twice as motivated as them and drop 50 on them. The bad thing is - we're due for a loss.......and we're coming up on a stretch where I despise all of our opponents and would hate to lose to any of them....but if I had to choose, it wouldnt be the Donks or Fade, so that leaves Pitt. Or we can just win every game and drop a meaningless game to dallas or buffalo later.
