Adderall

Who's on it?

I have been on it for three months now (prescribed), and the shit has been life changing. So much more focused and motivated. I know it gets a bad rep, and is widely abused, but I think the pros outweigh the cons with this one.

What say you?

When used correctly and balanced--all good.

Tough to find that balance on a middle school student. Glad it is working for you.

This.

My advice is that less is more, and always take brakes from its use. For instance, don't take it on weekends, only take it 3/4 weeks per month and in low doses. Reason is that taking amphetamines can put aggregate strain on your adrenal cortex making you experience stress and anxiety. Under extreme pressure, these symptoms can grow to paranoia and amphetamine psychosis. Bottom line, look into some vitamins you can take at night to replace your adrenal hormones so that years of use doesn't negatively affect you.

I have been thinking about it but have no idea how to ask for it. I dont do drugs at all and I think just asking might make my Doc think weird things. Curious, how did you go about it?

I have dealt with depression for about ten years. I am currently on prozac too. I just brought it up to my doctor that I was lacking energy/motivation, especially in the winter months. So we gave it a shot. It has been great. In my experience the instant release version works better than the extended release. I am currently on the extended, but will mention to my doctor about getting back on the IR.

Its the energy/motivation part I'm interested in. I have been a workaholic all my life. Since turning 50 I have really started slacking. Mid afternoon I could fall asleep standing up. I have started procrastinating and working shorter days. I would love to get back to my old self. I know a few guys that tried it and they sure seem to like it.

You should have your T levels tested.

I had that checked 3-4 years ago, it was really low. They gave me something (I cant remember) but you rubbed it on your shoulders. Very expensive and did not seem to have any effect.

I would definitely recommend. Or provigil/modafinil. But Adderall is much cheaper, and in my opinion more effective.

Ive taken Modafinil on rare occasions and it also is much much safer than adderal. Adderall feels literally like you are on drugs. Modafinil doesn't, it just gives you a general sense of wakefulness & concentration.

Have you gained weight too? Maybe you need a sleep study to see if you could benefit from a cpap.

I’ve read that those things are critical and could really help as a more natural option.
What kind of experience did you have?

Jesus man. Prozac is downright terrible for you...really any of those SSRI drugs are bad. Especially when you become dependent on them. Rx's never cure anything, they just help manage (some) symptoms, and they're designed to turn patients into customers so you keep coming back for more.

No different than your regular ol Joe street dealer, except FDA/DEA make it legal.

I dunno what's gone on in your life to make you take those drugs or become depressed...we all have issues, but you know what snaps you out of that....eating better and exercising. Having sex will help too.

I respect your opinion. I do need to work on eating better, and yes exercising helps lift your mood. However, I have tried getting off the meds and just focused on exercising/eating healthier. Simply doing just those two things doesn't work for everyone, if you have a chemical imbalance. Especially in the winter months, when SAD occurs.

Prozac has been a life saver, Adderall has also helped tremendously. Everyone is different tho.

If those meds help you thats all you need to care about. Good on you for getting the help you need.
Have you tried the light therapy box for SAD?
