Can we talk about Tershawn Wharton?

This guy is like really ****ing good.

He’s playing so well as an UDFA rookie at a position where guys just simply don’t usually play that well until year 2 or 3.

His upside is extremely high for a guy that’s just a rotational player right now. Him and Jones as our interior pass rushers is going to be unfair for the next few years.

I've thought about this... it's unreal, actually. I can't think of an UDFA at an interior position from a school like Rolla that has made the jump like this kid. I mean he has tremendous potential.

I know it’s PFF, but holy shit!

It’s really not all that surprising though when you think about it. Like I said, that’s a position where guys usually don’t play this well in year 1.

If he was just a combine warrior, I think it would be more surprising. But, wasn't he wrecking teams in his league? I thought (can't look it up right now) that I remembered reading how he was dominating opposing teams, and that it was surprising that he wasn't a late round pick.

But, I may be full of it, and not remembering correctly.

Dominating teams at a lower level is a good thing, but he was dominating teams at a very low level. Rolla is a step below semi-pro ball. I think it would be really hard to evaluate a player in that situation. It would be like evaluating you or me playing basketball against third graders.

I know the competition was not the best, but I think dominating when you should be dominating is important.

He actually displayed skills on the field, as opposed to combine warriors who run a good 40, throw up a big number in the bench press, etc. but they never dominated the competition.

That is the point I was trying to make. Combine numbers are impressive (remember Conley) however, lesser numbers but with a track record of dominating in games, should hold more weight in my opinion.

Its like hitting the lottery.

Allows us to let KPass walk after the season. Never going to be able to pay him what he will demand on the market anyway. Hopefully we will get a nice comp pick out of the deal.

He's incredible and has been since day/game 1. Both him and Danna were steals.

His size probably prevents him from being starting material, but with a DC like Spags, I see him getting used a LOT in key situations because he's so good and slicing through shit down the middle like a knife.

Think Wallace Gilberry but with a lot more athletic potential.

Technically he will probably never be a starter for us, but nowadays when you’re playing in subs for the majority of the game, he’s going to get a ton of snaps.

Him and Jones are a lot to deal with on passing downs.

Epinesa is a DE, Wharton is a DT. Not sure what you're getting at here?

Wharton can do both. My point, though, was that he is putting up better numbers playing inside than Epinesa on the edge (as a UDFA vs. second rounder).

Granted, he's playing more, but that's a great indicator as well.
