Car-nal Desires: Round 1, Heat 15

We have 84 entries in the tournament, and we'll collectively narrow the list down to the one Chiefsplanet dream car.

PICK TWO FROM EACH LIST ON THE POLL.

1913 Model T https://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/show...5&postcount=75

Parnelli Jones Big Oly Bronco https://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/show...&postcount=108

71 Hemi Cuda' https://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/show...5&postcount=83

Rolls Royce Phantom II https://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/show...4&postcount=40

Recall the rules below. (Rule #5 was modified slightly from the nomination thread.)

1. This vehicle will be yours at no purchase cost.
2. You will keep your current vehicles, so no need to worry about fitting a baby seat in it or being able to haul mulch.
3. You're responsible for parking it.
4. You pay for gas or electricity.
5. Insurance and maintenance up to $3,000 per month is free to you. You cover the next $1,000 if the expenses are higher, and then after that the expenses are covered. So for a high-end vehicle you'll cover a max of $1,000 per month.
6. The vehicle must be street-legal.
7. The vehicle must actually exist. It cannot be a cartoon or concept drawing. However, it can be a production vehicle, a concept vehicle, a custom vehicle, or anything else that is real.
8. The vehicle being nominated is the exact vehicle shown. You cannot change the color, the interior, the engine size, etc.
9. You cannot use the vehicle to make money. It's only for your personal use.
10. You cannot sell the vehicle.
11. Any type of street-legal vehicle is allowed. You can nominate a car, a truck, a minivan, an RV, a semi-truck, a motorcyle, a classic car, a school bus, whatever. As long as it meets the rules above, it's eligible.

Bronco and Cuda thanks.

I dig that Phantom II, but the more modern vehicles seem better to me.

I'm going all classic on this one. I would enjoy the Rolls Royce, and the Model T would be good for grocery store trips.

I like the Barracuda, but I'm getting muscle car fatigue. And the Bronco looks like it would ride rough.

Obviously you’ve never seen a model T. They aren’t good at anything except in comparison to horse drawn. It would be cool to own, much like a scythe would be for historical perspective, but I’m not trading off my Silverado for a T and I’m not trading off my combine for a scythe.

And I’d bet real money the bronco is a smoother ride than either of your choices.

Well, in my defense the grocery store is less than two blocks away.

Still. I want no part of anything I have to crank start (other than one of dads planes).

Especially for 2 blocks.

I suddenly recovered a memory that my father bought a Model A pickup at some point when I was an early teenager. I'd completely forgotten about that.

I think he had some grand plan to restore it, but we drove around the block a couple of times and then it sat in the garage for 10+ years until he finally sold it. I suspect he lost money on the deal, though I'm not sure.

The other mystery is that my parents had a two-car garage in that house and I don't think they ever parked a usable car in them. They filled them with "stuff" (including a Model A pickup) and then we all scraped snow and ice off of our daily drivers. I don't understand the logic of that.

The cuda is the only real contender IMO.

But I’ll go with the Bronco, even though I always hated those.

Holy crap, it's too bad we can't sell these once we acquire them. That exact Bronco sold for $1.87 Million in a Mecum auction last year.

It's kind of what makes this exercise difficult.

Hey, look how expensive this car is! You want it?

Sure...it's expensive because it's rare and historical....but it doesn't hold a candle in terms of performance and style compared to modern Bronco restomods that cost 1/10 as much.

If we take value and rarity out of the equation....then...well, that Bronco is pretty damn lackluster.

Too many muscle cars at this point, though I do love that 'Cuda.
