Special Teams are more important than some realize. There are not a ton of good kickers out there. This is at least the second game this year where poor ST play cost a team a game. The other was Pitt beating Cincy in week 1.

True - if you forget the rest of the crapfest game the kicker alone took the needed 3 points off the board.

I’m not going to get worked up about a game where so much crazily went wrong and we still only lost by 3. The defense was good, we didn’t get soundly beaten in all phases… we just tried to beat a bad team in 1st gear and couldn’t quite do it.

I can't really blame Veach for that. You never expect your kicker to go down and we haven't even asked dude to make any big time kicks. Just make a few PATs and 30-45 yarders.

To his credit, he made the kicks against the Chargers. Dude just choked in Indy.

Is there any evidence Reid or Toub even know this guys name before he showed up for his audition? Seems to me it’s Veatch and his scouting dept that chose these candidates. And frankly McLaughlin *was* available. (Unless he was at our audition too, IDK who was)
