I wonder how many hours...
I wonder how many hours Travis has stared at this exact web page with a calculator figuring out what he needs to do to pass Tony.
I for one have cumulatively thought about this an insane amount over the past few years. |

I don't think it matters. For 2 reasons. #1, I think Hollywood will be calling for him with 50-100 million dollars per year sooner than he can pass Tony's stats. #2, looking that the stats, Travis has amassed 2/3rd's of Tony's yards in just over 1/2 the time. There is no question from me.
Travis is the greatest TE the NFL has ever seen. |

I think Travis would hang them up for the right opportunity. I think the money Hollywood can offer, and that goes beyond just the idea of just being an actor will be hard to turn down. A team offers 5 million more than any other team for a player. That money would be hard to turn down for any player. Rightfully so. Vice versa I think turning down 35+ million more a year would be even harder. At the end of the day it's just silly stats that mean little. He is a first ballot hall of famer, has multiple championships, seen by his peers as one of the best ever at his position, if not the best ever. What else does he really need to accomplish? |

he strikes me as the type of guy who wants to beat that record, or any big record. When Gronk was on his podcast he sounded like he really likes breaking records and wanted Gronk's TD record but didn't get there.

Look at his monologue on SNL. He said something about being on SNL was the most exciting thing that ever happened to him. He got a laugh and then said something about how nothing compares to winning the Super Bowl. That sounds like a man dedicated to playing football to me. Then, just listen to any of his mic'd up games. He really enjoys himself out there. I think he's good for at least 5 more years.

I threw together a quick spread sheet to play around with this
Travis has a career average of 71.83 yds/gm. Last season it was 78.7 Yds/Gm At these averages it will take: 2 Seasons to pass Gates- 1.23/1.12 (71.83 Avg/78.7 Avg) 3 Seasons to Pass Witten- 2.21/2.02 4 Season to pass TG-3.92/3.58 Its completely doable but he will need to stay healthy, His production is way above his peers. TG had the next highest average Yds/game at 56. It's pretty awesome that KC will have had 2 of the most prolific TE in the history of the sport! |

I love Travis, but I'm not sure he's the type to use a calculator for much of anything. If he's aware of the pace he needs to be on, it's because someone's told him.

Nah Kelce isn't in it for the money, hes doing this for the legacy now....
There is something to be said for getting the most yards at TE in NFL history... Its a COMPLETELY MORE significant to have the Yard records and 4+ Super Bowls... Something TG will never be able to say. Also something that get overlooked, is Travis's yard in the post season..... He going to hold both records when hes done. |
