Orlovsky on Toney

Proves to me that Toney is dumber than we thought he was, and that is no easy feat...

That's an odd takeaway. It seems like it's just confirming what Andy was pissed off about - the officials typically warn a player and the HC when a player is getting close to being called for it. Andy wasn't pissed because the call was wrong - he was pissed that the refs didn't do the job he expects them to do. If Toney had gotten a warning on this early in the game, they could have corrected it.

I get the point of view that if he had been doing it all game, the refs should be doing some preventative officiating by giving him, the coaches or Mahomes a heads up about it. I agree with all that. But it's Toney's ultimate responsibility to ensure he's lining up legally by covering the tackle, but not being in the neutral zone. If the guy's spatial awareness is that bad, it's no damn wonder that he can't catch the ball.

Exactly.

AND, it makes we think that the ref knew it and waited to call it when it actually mattered.

Do people have this same take on the holding call in the Superbowl?

I really wish people would stop comparing this shit. It's not equal in any ****ing bizarro timeline.

What advantage did Toney get by being ON THE LINE with the football?

I don't understand your question. In the Super Bowl, the Chiefs got two touchdowns running the same maneuver because the defenders didn't hold them. When the defender held our receiver late in the game when our received attempted the same maneuver, the refs flagged it, appropriately. The refs weren't holding the holding call in reserve like they were Billy Martin in the ****in' pine tar game, waiting for the most opportune time to get it called.

If these refs didn't warn the Chiefs earlier about where Toney was lining up, then the fact that they called it late in the game means that they're incompetent. Either because they didn't notice it until then or they noticed it earlier but let it slide before deciding at the end of the game that they aren't going to let it slide.

One penalty had a direct effect on the play. If they don't tug JuJu the whip route is open for a 1st down and he doesn't have to option to the wheel. If the guy doesn't hold the result would have been the same.

Toney lining up 2 inches, yes its to inches from where the ball was spotted, not where Creed had the ball in the pic, had ZERO effect on the play, just like Dee Ford... Both were travesties being held in the Refs pocket for the opportune time.

While I agree with this take, I still blame Toney for lining up offsides on many snaps during the game. You learn how to line up and coordinate with the ref in pee-wee leagues. These are the basics.

Andy won't make heads roll over this. And frankly it's not our place to tell him what the right course of action is moving forward. He knows best how to manage big problems like this.

But god damn it do I want to see somebody get guillotined. Either Toney, Embree, or Nagy. Or a couple of them.

They're all chumps and they're all easily replaceable. And in Toney's case specifically, I've got the feeling it's going to be addition by subtraction when he finally goes away. And the same could very well be true for the two coaches I mentioned.

I'm not sure Embree needs to be fired, but I think he's in over his head with this particular group of receivers. If he had a stacked WR room like the Bengals or Eagles, the coach's lack of experience would not be so much of a potential liability for the team. So instead of firing him, he needs to be put into a different role like his old job (quality control or whatever it was). Get a legit experienced WR coach to deal with these guys.
