Let's talk about the Browns

Hopefully Jameis Winston is in the giving mood. I mean giving the ball to our defense.

TBH, the right side of the line has been getting kinda handled. We’ve got 3 OL in the top 6 at their position, but Pat is taking lots of hits and sacks.

Everyone does nothing except blame the OL. They suck and all, but Pat has NOWHERE TO GO with the ball. My main hope at this point is that Hollywood comes back soon and somehow immediately clicks with Pat and creates space while knocking everyone else down the pecking order. We simply can't be out there with Juju and Watson running routes on every snap.

There's some truth to this but also man I wish Pat would throw into some tight windows now and again. He's wanting stuff to be wide open.

That 3rd-and-1 last night designed to hit Worthy on a quick out, he saw the corner closing down hard and didn't throw it, but IDK what else his plan was there? It wasn't gonna be picked off. Worst case Worthy gets hit hard and doesn't hold onto the ball. But he holds it and ends up eating the sack.

That's the thing in the playoffs last year he finally started doing consistently. Even though MVS wasn't super trustworthy, he was giving his guys chances in tight coverage at times. Right now, if it's not wide open, he just isn't throwing it. Besides the occasional ball to Hopkins.

This is true for sure. Every week I watch RedZone and it's frustrating watching other QBs have so much success with just giving their guys a shot, especially all the cheap DPIs that they draw, which we're not even giving ourselves a chance to get.

Right now I'd bet Veach goes right back to the WR well early in the draft. I doubt any LT is gonna be there. And I'm all for it. Fk DL and DBs honestly, as much as we need reinforcements there.

There is a ton of truth here, it's kind of forgotten that we won with a worse OL than we have now when we won our 1st SB, shit Cam Erving played LT at times.

The difference? Tyreek Hill won routes immediately, younger Trav did also, I honestly think we are more hamstring by the WR room than we are the OL.

I don’t think I agree with the proposition that part of our problem is Pat has nowhere to throw. Worthy always seems to be open. We just don’t use him enough. Hopkins has a reputation of catching jump balls. He hasn’t shown that he’s a lesser wide receiver than he used to be, but Mahomes just doesn’t throw jump balls very often to covered receivers. He should do more of that with Hopkins. We do have an issue that the Kelsey/Mahomes magic isn’t as good this year so the concern that Kelsey isn’t always open is probably real.

But overall, I don’t think you can blame the WR room .definitely the OL is a problem. There seems to be general happiness about Humphrey but while he played, I gather he allowed two sacks and eight pressures in part of a game. Not sure that’s much of an improvement over as a disastrous performance we’ve had at LT up to now. and the so-called interior part of our line that Collingsworth kept referring to is “a wall“ isn’t playing up to their normal standards, especially in the past several games. Can’t believe that Collingsworth didn’t bother pointing this out as he kept referring to our interior wall, even though Mahomes was getting pressure up the middle.

Our receiving core will be even better when Brown comes back, but I don’t think they’re the problem now. Mahomes has been part of the problem, although he has improved the last several games. I think the roll right approach of moving the pocket helps. Hopefully we use that more. But the biggest problem which I’m not sure Humphrey’s solved has been LT.

Whether Humphries can hopefully play or not, you gotta help the LT all day long here. Garrett is too good.

Game plan shouldn't be any different regardless of the LT.

The browns DL is a real problem. But they are really susceptible to the big play. we must take shots and we cannot miss them.

We will contain the run game. We just know jameis is gonna chuck it and he's going to make costly mistakes. We must get pressure, get creative with coverages, and we need to be forcing the turnovers we have usually struggled with. The good news is that jameis is allergic to checkdowns which tends to pick us apart.
