Return visit to Arrowhead
Folks:
Thanks to all last year for advising me about things to do in the area during my first-ever visit to KC. (for the Buffalo game). To refresh your memory, I grew up in Boston, live in New Jersey, work in New York City and have rooted for the Chiefs since 1968. I'm going back there for the Atlanta game in late October and look forward to it. Some follow-up questions: * How soon should I arrive to ride a "Chiefs shuttle" from a downtown hotel, considering the lines to board the bus and, of course, the traffic? This time I'd rather spare myself the headache of driving. * Can I get away with leaving the car in the lot behind Union Station all day? They don't charge on Sunday, if my memory is right, and I could walk through the station and over the foot bridge (past the fountains) to that hotel diagonally across the way from the station. * The parent company of Adam's Mark has sold that hotel to Clarion, if I'm correct. How is it under the new ownership? I might stay there this time, if Clarion hasn't jacked up the rates. * I had a terrific meal at Pierpont's in Union Station; any similiar restaurants to recommend? * I may spend part of my four days in the area in Omaha; I'm a college hockey junkie and Neb.-Omaha plays Division I. What other things would be to do there--restaurants, galleries, etc.? Again, much appreciated. |

Omaha is great. I recommend the Embassy Suites downtown, it's fairly new. You can walk across the street to numerous shops and restaurants in a 4 square block area........

Omaha...the Henry Doorly Zoo. It's probably second only to the San Diego Zoo. Even if it's not your thing, it's pretty cool.

In Omaha...head down to the "old town" district....lots of good restaraunts, bars, shops etc.
Catch the Zoo and Aquarium. In KC.....I'd recommmend heading to the Hyatt downtown and go to the spinning restaraunt on top...at least for a drink and a view...Grab a steak at "the herford house". |

The Adams Mark/Clarion has never been worth a crap, IMO. Until they gut the place and remodel, it's gonna suck. That's my opinion.
There's a hundred restaurants you can't go wrong with. However, if you're looking for something a little bit different from usual, check out P.F. Changs on the plaza. It's a trendy asian fare establishment with an American twist. Very good stuff. Reasonably priced as well. I think you'll be disappointed at George Bretts on the plaza. I don't know the answers to your other questions, though. Good luck. |

Of coarse you must go to Arthur Bryants for some real KC BBQ while you are in town. Just know what you want before you get to the window to order
