Mocking the Super Bowl

Just a quick mock to start us off on the Super Bowl preparedness.

Resign Sneed $16-$18 million a year.

Tag and Trade
Chris jones and Skyy Moore to Atlanta for their second round pick and their second third round pick
Atlanta would pick in round one still and has a third rounder too. But are picking up an all pro DT who gets to get closer to home. Atlanta makes a push to win a division that is open. An interior pass rusher helps their defense get a lot better. And they can afford him.

Sign
Marquise Brown- a dynamic playmaker to help the offense. And his game plays off well with Rice.

Leki Fotu- a big DT that pushes the pocket and has good athleticism.

Draft
1. Troy Franklin WR Oregon 6’2” 190- Franklin adds a dynamic ability to the offense. Has deep speed and is also good after the catch. Has a good route tree already
2. Maason Smith DT LSU 6’5” 315- with the Atlanta pick we get a guy that has a lot of potential and will be another year removed from his injury. Good run stuffer that can get after the passer.
2. Kiran Amigadjie OT Yale 6’5” 326- an athletic small school kid to compete with Morris. This kid I believe will be a sleeper. Reportedly has 36+ inch arms. Plays physical too.
3. Denarius Robinson DT Missouri 6’5” 290- after coming in at 290 lbs at the senior bowl this kid could move up boards. Incredible explosion and movement skills for his size. Has tremendous length too. Getting him with the other Atlanta pick we got two kids who could develop into a Chris jones type DT
3. Ben Sinnott TE Kansas State 6’4” 255- a true 50/50 type TE. Physical blocker with good athleticism and catching skills. Time to start looking for a Kelce replacement.
4. Sataoa Laumea OG Utah 6’4” 320- physical player that was a RT in college although has guard reps too. But a kid to start developing behind Thuney.
5. Jawhar Jordan RB Louisville 5’10” 190- speed speed speed. The McKinnon replacement that will be a nightmare out of the back field. Is said to run a lot 4.3 forty. An Achane type compliment to Pacheco.

Roster
QB- Mahomes, Gabbert
RB- Pacheco, Jordan, Prince
WR- Rice, Franklin, Brown, Watson, Ross, Remiggio
TE- Kelce, Gray, Sinnott
LT- Morris/Amigadjie
LG- Thuney, Laumea
C- Humphrey, Allegretti
RG- Smith, Kinnard
RT- Taylor, PTW

LE- Karlaftis, Herring, Thompson
DT- Smith, Robinson
DT- Fotu, Farrell, Biggs
RE- Omenihu, FAU, Jones
LB- Bolton, Tranquill, Chenal, Jones, Cochrane
CB- Sneed, Jones
CB- Williams, Watson
NB- McDuffie, Boye-Doe
SS- Reid, Connor
FS- Cook, Edwards, Johnson

KR- Jordan/Prince/Remiggio
PR- Jordan/Prince/Remiggio

1. Why would Sneed sign that deal? He has more leverage than Jones.
2. Why would Atlanta trade all of that for Jones and pay him top of the market money?

1. You think Sneed is getting more than 18 million? And they have these things called incentives too.

2. And I explained the falcons doing this already.
They have the money with no big contracts. A solid young roster. A wide open division there to win and get into the playoffs. And doing it for an all pro DT that can get after a QB and elevate their defense. Jones is the best DT in the league right now. They still have their first round pick. Jones is their second round pick. And they still have another third round pick too. They have the means and assets.

I'm struggling to get on board with anything that includes a tag and trade of Chris Jones. I just don't think it's a reality.

The logistics of signing both Sneed and tagging Jones alone are difficult to navigate. Is it entirely possible? Yes, but it also precludes the Chiefs from being active in free agency until they trade Jones unless they push nearly all of Mahomes' money forward. We have no idea how long that could take to trade Jones, and once you do you've freed up all this cap space that you may not need anymore depending on how late into the process Jones is traded.

As nice as it would be to do, there is a financial component to it that the Chiefs just might not want to enter into. There is also the aspect of not wanting to lose Sneed either if you can't iron out a deal and saving that tag for him. If I were GM, I'd try to re-sign Jones but if that fails, and it likely would, then I'm looking at taking the loss and moving on. It is what it is. The year to trade Jones was this year if we were going to do it.

Atlanta would actually be a fantastic fit for Jones, actually. Like that's the #1 place I see him going.

But the league knows we can't afford him and we're not bringing him back. I think they know we need weapons and Sneed, so they can afford to wait us out. We're going to let the guy walk and let him pick his spot -- a perfect sendoff to a guy that won us three Super Bowls.

Franklin would be an excellent pickup for the Chiefs at the bottom of the first. He's like a plus-version of Chris Conley in this offense, and Reid deeply values that type of player. And I like that you included Remigio at the bottom of your WR depth chart -- people are sleeping on how good he is. He may actually be the Skyy Moore we wanted.

Amigadjie would be an outstanding pickup in the 3rd -- I actually think he's 2nd value for this team. He probably doesn't start his rookie year though, so you're looking at Wanya Morris at LT for a season, which, yeesh. But Amigadjie has all the hallmarks of a 2nd day tackle fit for the Chiefs. Give him to Andy Heck, see if you can develop those tools. I really like his fit here.

I appreciate you getting a McKinnon replacement but that role in the Reid offense is too important to leave for a 5th round rookie, I think they dip into free agency to find the McKinnon third down passblocking back.

I'm wondering if he read it as a 1 year deal, not 18m per year.

Agree with this, I really like the picks. Not sure how realistic but that'd be a great draft. I imagine we'd have D Smith back for another year.
