I blame Herm and Carl for what we have right now.

It took them 3 whole seasons to get us where we are right now... Its gonna take Pioli and Co. more than 1/4th of one plus half an offseason to fix things.

The Vermeil years were at least fun to watch even if the team wasn't winning Super Bowls.

Having ANY Defense would have gone a long way in 2004. How the **** do we go 7-9 with 6700 yards?!?!?!

The Dick years might have been fun to watch, but they were a very flawed team, and the drafts from those years are far more responsible for the ****ed team that we have now than anything Herman ****ing Edwards did.

If we hadn't decided to force the 34 as our base defense this year, the players selected in the last couple of drafts would be a nice foundation to build a defense around.

Eh, I don't think anything was ever really going to come from Tank and Turk, and we are getting to use the DB's in the 3-4. Dorsey may be the only guy that we are screwing up, but who knows, maybe he get his butt in gear and actually find a place for himself.

True, but all teams have their issues. I will say that I'd put that 05 team up against anyone and feel confident that we would win. I felt that way each week. We were a LJ whiffed block and Kennison picked-off-slant away from being 12-4 that year.

Agree completely on the forced 3-4. Though a better defense in some ways, it guaranteed that we would be set back another 3 years.

Agree with you 100% on the first paragraph concerning the Vermiel drafts - they set the team back three years at least. Not so much on the second paragraph.

If 3-4 defense is going to be better for the team in the long run, get it done - now. Not a year from now, not two years from now when they'll have to catch up to the offense but now.

The whole settling for what's easier than what's better is one of the reasons the Chiefs are in this pickle. Waiting until future seasons to implement the 3-4 if that's what Pioli sees as the teams future is asinine. It's repeating the same old mistakes of why the team is where it is today.

There is no better season than now to start converting to a 3-4 if that's where the team is going.

I'm not saying they are wrong to force it, though I think they could have transitioned to it over time smoother, much like the Patriots did when Hoodie took over there.

I am only pointing out how it rendered the last couple of drafts meaningless.

As for Morph's post, Dorsey would have been the foundation, but guys like Tank, Turk (who should have been a DT rather than a DE, as he was used last year) and Tamba would have been solid pieces in a D-Line rotation, thus building blocks for a solid 43.

YEP!!!

If Pioli and Haley could turn it around in one season with the personel left for them it would mean Carl and Herm were on the right track. They weren't. The only things they left of value was a team with no cap problems and a punter.
