Those that have said Cutler is better than Alex Smith.

Cutler now has more INTs this season than Alex has in the last two seasons combined. Cutler has Alshon Jefferey, Brandon Marshall, and Matt Forte.
Cutler has a huge arm but the rest is just shit.

Just a genuine question. I have a buddy that has to take insulin shots daily, and he loves his beer. He doesn't strike me as the self destructive type.

I dont pretend to know the extent of Cutler's drinking (and I doubt anyone else here does either) so I just dont know where all this fits in the discussion. Cutler is clearly a dumbass and has attitude issues regardless.

I just thought about editing that post a little. I was going to stipulate that there is a difference between having a few drinks and getting drunk. Cutler cannot drink just a few.

cutler is a piece of shit and has made a career out of garbage time TDs

Did you guys watch the thanksgiving game? Down 2+ scores, 1 minute left, he was soooooooo pumped about trying to get a garbage time TD, no huddle, completely emphatic, milked that last 60 seconds for like 5 real time minutes... and then ended up throwing a pick at the very end anyway. He's a complete bonehead.

Of course not, but neither can Cutler... but if I only had one wildcard playoff game to win, our backs are against the wall... I'm taking Smith and I dont care how counterintuitive it sounds.

Cutler is like Romo with a better arm but even worse decision making abilities... I'm going to take the guy capable of keeping defenses from going in dry every single time... just give my offense a shot.

I blame Alex's short passing on Reid.. last year there was a point where he talked about Alex pushing it down the field more. He worked on it, and Alex did. And he was largely successful at it.. look at the playoff game for example.

This year, I think Reid has decided his WR's are shit and is giving Alex instructions to play very safe. Once we get behind, all of a sudden he can find the gumption to go down field, and largely successfully.

I blame coaching entirely this year.

Fair enough.

You're comparing Cutler to Romo, though, and that isn't really helping your argument. Romo is, and has been, a great QB.

Its not unfair IMO... they're just slightly different versions of each other.

The one thing in common for sure is that both have been given loaded offenses that they couldnt get over the hump... we can digress into "what about the defense" stuff all night long, but we cant have our cake and eat it, too.

Its a symbiotic thing to some extent no matter how badly we all want to separate the two to make our various arguments... if they both had dialed it down to the dreaded checkdown more often, their names probably wouldnt be so synonomous with fail.

I love the big play with all my heart, watching a guy like Rodgers for instance makes me say "see! thats how the mfing game is played!"... hence my continued crush on Bray/Cutler? lol... but still, theres so much more to it all than that and you certainly know it.

Its called playing football and not long ball, for a reason...

The reason I have such a hard time comparing the two is because of what is asked of each of them. If Cutler was given the instruction by his coaches "do not turn the ball over. Dont worry about throwing touchdowns, getting first downs or anything aside from not throwing an interception" maybe he would look better than he does.

Alex is literally asked to do less than almost every starting quarterback in the league. Who knows if quarterbacks who are asked to do more could be successful playing Alex ball. My guess is they would, but its nothing more than that. A guess.
