Late night bullshit: drafting the Chiefs in the CP Mock.

Thanks to the ChiefsPlanet Mock gods (I.e. Pesty), I'm representing the Chiefs in this year's Mock.

I'm reasoning out my picks as much as time allows when my turn pops up, and I'll dump my reasoning for each pick in here for your ridicule and/or hero worship.

The mock doesn't allow for compensatory picks, but I'll make ersatz selections in this thread, too.

The OP will be updated as the mock goes on.

1. OL Cameron Erving, Florida State
2. WR Devin Smith, Ohio State
3. WR Justin Hardy, East Carolina
3. OLB Hau'oli Kikaha, Washington
4. ILB Taiwan Jones, Michigan State

I doubt it. Even if he's too expensive for Dorsey to pay, he's not going to get close to that from another team.

I think Poe is better than McCoy. McCoy got a $13M a year average on a $95M contract.

And we still have 2 years left on his rookie deal. I'm not drafting a replacement now......not in the 1st at least.

That is not what I am doing. With those picks I would be trying to strengthen our defense. Face it we have to have a TOP D to win with Alex as the QB.
We have already improved the OL tremendously with the Grubbs signing and putting Stephenson back at RT.

Maybe RG?

Fisher, Grubbs, Kush, Erving, Stephenson

That's not too bad

Unless Stephenson pulls his head out of his ass and starts to play to his tremendous potential, I have little doubt that Erving would win a competition to start at RT.

Erving's versatility gives the OL incredible flexibility.

He has the talent to play anywhere on the line at a legitimate pro bowl calibre.

Start him at RT, move him to LT if Fisher isn't progressing, or to center if Kush doesn't perform, and he can back up any position on the line.

I am not a fan of the idea of drafting an O-Lineman with the first pick, but if the draft played out this way, I would be perfectly fine, happy really, if these were the picks in the actual draft.

Getting Erving at 18 would be an outstanding pick.
Heard the interview, and I believe it was Daniel Jeremiah.

Can't say I agree with the Walter Jone comparison, but I do believe that his versatilty makes him the most talented linemen in the draft.

You're right, Poe gives a far more consistent effort than Suh.

I thought it sounded like him. But I wasn't sure.

Guys like that are extremely valuable. Especially to a team with a QB like Alex and running backs like Jamaal and Knile.

If we make this OL beast mode, this offense is gonna be extremely tough to stop consistently and that will make us very tough to beat. Especially in the playoffs.
