Yeah pitch Wade there and hope for the best. Leaving Wade on the bench is like when football coaches try to get cute saving their TOs and then the game ends with a TO in their pocket.

Soria's who you got in that situation. If he sucks that is what card is going to be played.

Wade pitched yesterday coming off of a DL stint, this is not on Ned. This is squarely on Soria, who apparently can't be relied on in high pressure situations.
Chris Young is a terrible starter but has been a really good bullpen arm, let's see if he steps up. |

What was the contract Ryan Madson signed with Oakland? Definitely seems we should have kept him instead of the awful Soria signing.

Those are the types of signings that close/shorten Windows. Spend that money + Kennedy on Cueto and resigning Hos/Moose and our windo goes for 5 more years......

I agree that the signings have been dogshit and might cause the Royals to turn back into a pumpkin, but the revisionist history by fans is insane.
Cueto? There wasn't a single person in KC who wanted him back after his disastrous 2nd half of 2015, even if it was for half the $150 million he got. When Madson got his deal from the A's, Royals fans thought Beane was insane (or insanely desperate). If there was someone questioning the Gordon signing, I'd like to see proof. It wouldn't shock me to see a few people question it, but it was widely regarded as a good move especially considering we had 2 OF spots open and throwing 2 AAA guys in there would've been dangerous.

Nobody saw Alex Gordon inexplicably turning into a ****ing chump in year one of the new deal. Not a single goddamn person.
There were people who said, "A long term deal means we may be paying for trash sooner rather than later" but NOBODY said he'd be garbage this quickly. For no reason at all, injury or otherwise. Gordon's shit this year is the most frustrating part for me. Even more than the pitching. |

What's scary about Gordon is these deals on guys 30+ years of age tend to be ok for a year or two before turning bad. He turned to shit from day 1. If history is any guide he isn't going to magically turn it around in years 3&4. You normally have to get whatever value you get by the early period.

Madson also had a nasty habit of blowing it in high-leverage spots - in the playoffs and I think once late in the regular season. I thought it was a good move to let him go.

The dude was clutch in the WS. But I had no issue with cutting him loose in the offseason. He's four years older than Walkoff Soria and the massive case of dead arm he had in August was a concern as well.

Age had to be the biggest issue with Madson. His only real hiccup was facing the Blue Jays.
Although if age was the issue, not sure why we gave Young 2 years. That seemed like a "you saved our season, lets get you some cash" move.
