The Chiefs are simply built to beat the Patriots’ in playoffs, says Fox Sports writer

"If the Chiefs have home field advantage in playoffs, they are going to Super Bowl"

Sweet words to the Homer in me. But, alas, they are just words.

BY PETE GRATHOFF

If you’re wondering if the 7-2 Chiefs might be flying under the radar with national media, that’s not the case.

Among AFC teams, the Chiefs have the second-best chance to win the Super Bowl, according to fivethirtyeight.com. That 15 percent chance is just behind the Patriots (17 percent). The Chiefs are the top AFC team in Sports Illustrated’s power rankings. They are the second-best AFC team behind the Patriots, according to CBS Sports.

On Thursday, Peter Schrager, Senior National Football Writer for Fox Sports, said only one team in the AFC could beat out the Patriots for a spot in the Super Bowl: the Chiefs.

Schrager noted that the Chiefs have won 17 of their last 19 regular-season games and their home-field advantage is huge.

“The Chiefs do not lose at home,” he said. “They are on a 10-game winning streak in Arrowhead, which is the longest active streak in the entire league.”

Schrager says if the Chiefs win home-field advantage through the playoffs, they will make the Super Bowl.

“The Chiefs are simply built to beat the Patriots,” Schrager said.

Here is more on what Schrager said.

This team isn't beating anyone in the playoffs that isn't starting Brian Hoyer.

#Patriots* pass-rusher Jabaal Sheard did not make the trip to SF to play the #49ers because of a performance-based decision.

That defense is a dumpster fire this year. Looks like Hoodie's moves are not working out for him for once after all.

God I hope that Patriots team implodes. Bart Scott was very animated this week on Inside the NFL while talking about Belichick and his way of doing things. Said if you're not part of that core 5 then you're always expendable. He said players will notice that and tend to not want to lay it all out there for him.

I watched that segment. Didn't agree with him. History has proven that it works for Bill. Not only do players lay it on the line for him, they tend to do everything asked of them. Maybe if he stays past the Brady years and things get a little worse he might lose his players, but he isn't going to in this situation.

Agreed that it's worked well for him. But lets see how it works when Brady is gone.

Our defense is tearing it up. If we can nail down the offense part, I'd start to think we've got a good shot.

People keep saying this yes the defense is doing well

What have you seen from the offense at all that makes you think there is even a slight chance of nailing it down hmmm ?

You're putting words in my mouth. I never said there has been any proof. It doesn't mean it can't happen.

Pats offense is better with Bennett but their defense is straight up trash this year.

We can absolutely beat them if we're healthy

Where does this belief come from most of last year and almost all of this year has been a dumpster fire.

1. Alex Smith usually plays better in the playoffs.

2. We won a playoff game last year, and I think most people think the offense is better this year when healthy.

3. We lost by 7 in NE last year to a great team in their home in January, a very tough place and time to play. That is nothing to be ashamed of. A few plays turn out differently and we win that one and go to the AFCCG against a team we had beaten already.

4. We've seen this offense play better than the last couple of weeks, when we had a number of key injuries, including at QB. Foles sucked badly two weeks ago.

1.not last year
2.Jamal is not coming back so one half of SD and the oakland game was nothing mind blowing the offense is clearly worse this year healthy or not
3.Alex had one TD and played adequate defense was not terrible just needed more from our offense they had been sucking all year and it was bound to cost us a game in the playoffs last year.
4.the offense did the best it did all season under Foles during the indy game Oakland and SD was nothing to write home about.
