QB Future in KC

Simple question. We all see there are flaws with this team. But the primary one is the most important position, quarterback. So with that in mind, of the options below, what do you hope to see happen this offseason with the QB position in Kansas City?

Why can't we just draft a QB and roll with Alex/Foles until the guy is ready, whether that's an immediate start or not?

If Bill Parcells was still coaching, he'd call Alex Smith a "hold the fort" QB. That horrible endzone pick cost you the game. With rookie QBs having so much success across the board this season, it never ceases to amaze me how many teams continue to try to polish a turd into a mediocre QB, or coach up a mediocre QB into a solid but unimpressive QB, or go out and get a solid but unimpressive QB who will never break through the plane and become a great QB. Alex Smith is that last one. Looks good most of the time, just good enough to have a decent TD/INT ratio, QB rating hangs out in the high 90s, but never makes you go, "Wow, that's a guy who can win a Super Bowl for us."

QBs like Alex are the safe play and keep coaches from getting fired.

Fat Andy isn't hitching his job to a rookie. He wants the path of least resistance to try to win a Championship. It's just too bad that nearly everyone in KC realizes that's never going to happen.

Combine that with the fact that regardless of whomever we would bring in via trade, draft, or FA.....Fat Andy is still the running the offense and calling the plays and you'll never win a championship with that simple and predictable offense.

Perhaps next year 2-14 makes sense so we can get Drew Lock. If not, we could sell the farm and get get Wentz for next season.

It's not like we've shown a propensity to so much as keep a Gannon when they have him.

But all of this pre-dates Reid, so it doesn't count. And once Reid is replaced, the past will be the past. It's the Hunt family motto.

Most realistic although certainly not the most satisfying option is to go with Nick Foles if the Chiefs decide to move on from Alex Smith.

Nick Foles as the starter and Jay Cutler as the veteran back-up acquisition would be a QB depth chart only Carl Peterson would love, but I could unfortunately see that happening in 2017.

Dorsey can't bring Alex back next year. He just can't be that stupid. The man came from Green Bay, a place that's been QB heaven for over 20 years. How the hell can he sell us on another Smith season? Alex looks like he's lost his desire and guts. I really get the impression from watching him that he's just trying to get through the season and get the hell outta there. If Denver gives him a concussion I think he's done.

The choice is obvious to gives Foles next season and see how it goes with him. Then take a chance and draft a real prospect. Not a fifth rounder but a real prospect at QB in the earlier rounds.

This is the most realistic scenario, which is just sad. We are locked back in the 90s, good team with average (at best) QB play.

I still can't figure out why Alex isn't running this season. Even before the Geathers family tradition of hitting Chiefs QBs in the head, Alex wasn't running, and that was what took from him below average to above average. It seems like they made a conscious decision this year to turn him into a pocket quarterback, which has been a disaster.

Are there any backup/QBOTFs who'll become available this year? Didn't Aaron Rogers play under Favre all those years?

BTW this poll doesn't have enough options.

When Dorsey gave Alex that contract extension was Alex playing particularly well? This franchise always seems a year or two late to realize the problems. Hopefully they man up after this year.
