Chiefs Some Chiefs playoff scenarios - Page 3

Some interesting things to consider going into this weekend:

#3 and #4 are locked in [Edited]
#5 seed is still at large. If KC loses and Miami wins, Miami takes the #5 seed
If KC ends up a #6 seed, then an Oakland win over Denver guarantees we see the Raiders in round 2 (following a win)

Should be a fun weekend. I really love that with the 3 key AFC playoff matchups, there's a ton of different scenarios for how the playoff bracket will shake out. Correct me if I'm wrong on any of this.

And as weird as it sounds, we have played better on the road than at home over the last 2 seasons.

I would still take the bye. But it's likely that in that scenario we would face Pittsburgh.

There's benefits to both scenarios which is nice and we will theoretically have a week where we can rest our starters. But leveon bell is a BAD BADDDD MAN.

Oakland and Houston realize they have no real shot at the title thus I think we can put our guys on snap counts once the games swing in our favor. Allowing Pitt and NE to matchup, they'll likely beat the shit out of each other to get into the next round.

If the pats are the 1 seed and the steelers are the 3, they won't meet til the afc champ game

My understanding is the better season record between #3 and #4 travels to play to the 2nd seed. I'm guessing Pitt is going to rest its starters this week as they are locked in at #3 thus they will face NE in round 2.

We will know the outcome of their game and also Miami's before we kickoff. Currently we have one game over them as they are at 10 wins, we are at 11 wins. But they hold the tiebreaker on us.

If I'm reid and I see New england has won and Pittsburgh let's the Browns win, I'm resting my starters too.

The best case scenario, IMO, is the Dolphins beating Pittsburgh, which would mean Miami vs. New England in the Divisional Round.

Either the Chiefs get a bye as #2 or face the Texans and Raiders on the road before going to New England, both of the former being extremely winnable games.

Nope.

Week 1: #4 vs. #5 and #3 vs. #6

Week 2: #1 hosts the lowest remaining seed and #2 hosts the highest remaining seed

The 1 seed will play the highest seeded winner from wildcard weekend. If the steelers are the 3 seed and win, they go to oakland if oakland is the 2 seed

Agreed. Rest this week and then prepare to play two teams that you have good track records against. Both also have backup QBs.

My guess is the probability of beating Houston will be over 70%, and beating Oakland will also be over 70%. Multiply those two outcomes and it still exceeds our likelihood of beating Pitt after a bye week which if they advance, will have a lot of confidence/momentum.

5 seed with Oakland 1 seed where we are @Houston and then @Oakland in divisional round

It's interesting. I'm taking the bye because pit could even be beaten. But basically you could say @hou/@oak is better than bye/pit. I don't agree but I think you could make the point.
