I went on a generic/store brand kick back in my 20s until I found a meal worm in a can of whole kernel corn. That was the end of that. There's a reason the shit is cheaper, and life's too short.

Quaker Oats the off brands never come out as creamy.
Jiffy cornbread mix its cheap and I can't make better with cornmeal so why bother. Tones or McCormick dry spices Walmart and other brands just dont all up. Libby's or Green Giant canned vegi's and birdseye frozen. Oscar Mayer packaged Bolo and cotto salami that Bar S is gross. To bad they ruined the Hotdogs 10 to 15 years ago.

Give Oscar Meyer bacon a go the next time you see it on sale. Very very pleased with it compared to the other regular national brands.

It sounds like you need a Costco membership. They are $20 on sale for an 18 pack. Regular price $25. They carry chocolate and vanilla. They go on sale pretty often, probably 4-6 times per year and their sales last a month. I just stock up on them when they are sale. I have no idea what you pay but if you drink a lot of them the membership might be worth it for you for that one item. Or just find someone you know goes there and have them get them for you. |

I think we can all agree Spanish Gardens taco seasoning is the best, but for sauce, noting compares to Art's Special. Damn, now I'm going to have to go down to Armourdale. And maybe hit Krizman's, too. Price Chopper only has the polish sausage and andouille. I need to try some of that jalapeno cheddar someone mentioned earlier.

Once he pulls out of Billay's mom and takes his time to compose himself, he's a pretty smart fella.

And by 'composes himself' you clearly mean 'empties his bowels of bog water.'

A lot of stuff already mentioned (Philadelphia cream cheese, Lea and Perrins W Sauce, Hersheys chocolate syrup, Kraft M&C, etc).
Other than that potato chips are always Lays, Planters Dry Roasted peanuts (the Great Value version is almost tasteless), Tillamook for cheddar cheese, ice cream is Tillamook or Blue Bunny, Diet Pepsi (haven't found a single off brand diet pop that was good), pillowbitere or Dannon Greek yogurt, Daisy for cottage cheese and sour cream. I'm not saying these are the best ever; it's just that they are at the "price vs quality" level that we are comfortable with. |

Our closest Costco is 90 miles away and we still go down there 7-8 times a year and stock up on stuff. It's worth it to us despite the yearly membership and the gas. However, we live in the sticks and our only other choice is pretty much Wal-Mart.
