Meh, this "Pats have gotten to the top due to the AFCE being weak" is basically a myth. Pats record inside and outside the AFCE is about the same during the Brady/BB era.

Easy games allow you to rest guys and use a standard game plan instead of showing the league the new stuff you are working on. It gives your team a little bit of a break when you face crappy teams 6+ times each season.

Combine that with the fact that you have an excellent team, it really helps.
