Nice write-up
Question for you. Shouldn't you be thanking Ryan Fitzpatrick for instead of Ryan Tannehill though? |

Excellent write-up. Captured how many of us older Chiefs fans have felt for such a long, long time.

I can relate to all of this; also, the Chiefs of the 70s and 80s were easier to take since the Royals were very successful during that time period. I watched football however I was a baseball fan. Tickets to Chiefs games in the 80s were easy to get and it was a fun time to get a group of friends together and head to a game. The Kenney/Fuller/Blackledge QB situation was a joke and the Chiefs a laughing stock. Nationally televised games would not show the upper seats on punts as they were empty. The 90s and beyond were the hardest to take; the Chiefs found the most novel ways to lose. Watching the Chiefs dominate games for 50 minutes and then go into the prevent a win defense allowing the Broncos to steal away victories.
So at some level, I understand the 49ers fans being upset. They basically had the game won if they had simply kept running the ball. The coach did what Chiefs coaches have done in the past, they quit trusting the team and what got them there. It brings back all the frustration of those Chiefs teams of the past where I wanted to find a reason other than the team and coaches that was responsible for the loss. I've watched a lot of breakdowns of the plays they are complaining about; Bosa was not held. The helmet to helmet hit on their QB was after the shoulder impacted him in the chest, no lowering of the head to spear. Kittle pushed off TWICE to get separation. I probably would have been screaming at the TV as well; mostly for wasting time at the end of the half when more times than not, teams double dip when receiving the 2nd half kickoff. Big change in momentum and a big message to how the coach felt about his team. |

Good write up. It really speaks for most of us here. However, one thing that I might change is the part where Miami beat New England. That didn't give us HFA. It gave us the 2 seed and a first round bye. You could add more to the story by putting that in there, then adding how the stars further aligned when the Titans, after knocking off the Patriots, took out the Ravens giving us HFA. It's your story, write it how you want. I'm just trying to give a little constructive criticism. Feel free to ignore it, tell me to DIAF, whatever. Lol. Like I said, it's a great write-up either way.

Great Write up ! I too remember being late for Christmas Dinner because I didn't want to miss any of that heart wrenching AFC Championship game against the Dolphins ! How Fitting was it that this year it was the Dolphins that put is in place as # 2 seed and the rest is History ! So Proud of this team !

I went through all the same pain and triumph too! I turn 56 this month and remember it all like yesterday.. From riding my bike to training camp at William Jewell college to watch practice with about 20 people to watching them win the AFC Championship with 78,000 friends... I still get emotional thinking about us winning the SB... We deserve this!!

For the younger fans here they should really think about these for a moment:
-Take your age today and add 50 to it. That would be the next time you see the Chiefs in a Super Bowl if you had to suffer what us old timers did -Also take your age and add 22 years to it. That would be the next time you see the Chiefs win a playoff game -Lastly take your age and add 15 to it. That's how long you would have to wait just to MAKE the playoffs like we did from 1971-1986 Hope this puts a little perspective on how impactful this Super Bowl appearance and win was for the older guys around here........
