Chiefs draft notes from Terez/Robinson podcast

Just listened to Terez and Robinson on the Yahoo Sports podcast.

- Robinson heard from 2 different sources that the Chiefs have been kicking the tires on a lot of potential 1st round round WR’s. Specifically mentioned Reagor and Shenault.

- Terez said the Chiefs will go IOL early (first 2 days) and watch out for Cesar Ruiz after a trade down.

- Terez likes Dobbins and has heard the Chiefs are interested as well, but they also really like DeAndre Washington.

- The bottom line is the Chiefs are going to “pump up the asset of Mahomes” early.

Herbert is garbage.

Tua is accurate, the only question is injury history.

He rarely completes those difficult throws. I think he's a game-manager type talent that will be the 3rd or 4th Qb taken off the board.

Tua also had the luxury of throwing to 3 1st round WR's and an O-line featuring a top 10 LT.

And no, you can't just dismiss how injury prone he is. He really is injury prone. And he doesn't protect himself well from getting hit either.
Justin Herbert doesn't even have a highlight reel...I don't think either one of them is a sure thing but if my choice is can this guy stay healthy vs this dude has measurables and sucks in games, I know who I'm taking.

If you go on straight measurements and shorts yea. Herbert looks like he should be the guy. 6'5, thick frame, mobile, big arm, college major that requires a brain....but then he plays and he sucks, he looks like an elite prospect and plays like Derek Carr.

Tua is undersized and injury prone but his game stuff is far superior to Herberts.
well, the NFL draft geniuses do this ALL THE TIME.

It's how you get Trubisky first before Mahomes or even Watson.

I'm not disagreeing with you; I don't think much of Herbert. I think Tua is the only potential franchise QB in this draft, or at least LIKELY to become a franchise QB. But his injury history combined with his dumb**** wonderlic score concern me.

Nonetheless, we've seen that if you don't have an elite QB you're spinning your wheels, so you've got to TRY.

I really think some people haven't watched Justin Herbert play, if you watch his games you come away unimpressed every single time....EVERY SINGLE TIME. I watched that fool play no less than 15 times.

I don't hate that idea, personally.

Regardless, we aren't in the Miami management department, so it's just speculation.

but if they like someone besides Tua, then nabbing a LT and picking a guy later isn't a horrible idea.

Only time will tell. That's what makes this fun.

I'd like to see Jordan Love in the right system with the right coaches. He's got the most talented arm in the draft.

there are always outliers, but I wouldn't bet on THAT one.

Marino was a freak.

I'd take the smart guy more often than not.

If playing for the defending champs doesn’t motivate him, nothing will... got my fingers crossed, hoping for the best

I definitely like his chances in Spags system if he’s willing to try

I thought Trubisky was garbage. I didn't see a damned thing on tape that made me think he was special.

Mahomes' tape was impressive, but I wasn't sure how his game would translate, so I get the knocks on him leading up to the draft. What they couldn't measure was his MIND.

Herbert-I'm with you. But every year the NFL draft guys take THIS guy almost exactly, thinking his play will somehow project differently at the NFL level.

I like Love better than Herbert, but I'm no great fan of either.

I expect Love will have a better career, but Herbert will go first. And by 'better' I mean from a solid #2 to mid-level starter type ceiling.

Oh yeah, because that's how that usually goes.

How about Akili Smith? How about Jamarcus Russell? Ryan Leaf?

Just a big arm ain't enough.

Marino is an outlier. He was a freak, and counting on just any big armed dumb**** to produce like Marino is monumentally stupid.

There's nothing special about Trubisky at ALL, not his mental processing, nothing. I never understood why he was the consensus #1.

I better call my shot, this is no time for weakness:

Tua and Burrow are the only QBs I'd take in the first three rounds.
