Giants are having a covid outbreak

Saquon Barkley is not alone. Several more Giants players tested positive this morning after the team gave everyone rapid tests following their Tuesday COVID scare. Those players have taken PCR tests and the Giants expect to get those results tonight.

So they have one positive case and it's a coach.

Giants had 13 positive results among those tested yesterday; all 13 were retested today and the only positive was RB coach Burton Burns, who turned 69 last week.

If you get a positive rapid test you will need to have a PCR test to confirm that tells me the rate is high enough no to trust it on positives, if your negative you are good though and that is why it is still useful for for places that test a lot of people often.

I think there was a post that the team was using rapid tests.

I’d say that was accurate early on, but not so much anymore. Over time they have been able to “dial it in” pretty accurately with rapid antigen tests. Many being less than 3 false positives per 100 in clinical trials. I’ve been distributing these nationally for the better part of the last 12 months. Working on more global reach these days. Granted, there are some Chinese brands I wouldn’t trust, but for every one of those there’s a Korean, American, or European brand that produces a much more accurate and specific result.

How, exactly does that happen?

I assume these tests are made to detect something specific to COVID-19…how would it detect positive for something that’s not present?

I have no idea which specific test the NFL is using. The ones you can get OTC from Abbott, Quidel, et.al work and straight from the .gov’s mouth-

True just like how the pcr tests I am sure have improved since the onset , they still confirm the rapid test with a PCR as of now but that may change to.
