**** him. He's not a better DC than my grandma, and she's ****ing DEAD.
You do realize that his defenses in 2019 and 2020 ranked #7 and #11 in points allowed, right? And this season, despite the horrid start, is actually at #27 now.

Look, I'm not going to defend his decisions this year. I agree that Sorenson should never see the field again and that Bolton and Gay should get a lot more PT than Hitchens and Neiman. Still, let's at least be real here.

I don't think anyone is advocating playing Niemann over either Bolton or Gay in a 3 LB set. He does cover a little better than Bolton right now. My personal opinion is in a 3 LB set, it should be Bolton, Gay, and Niemann.

People only think this because Niemann is 220 pounds.

His coverage stats vs Bolton.

325 snaps, 85% cmp pct, 193 yds allowed, 11.4 yd/comp, 1 TD

758 snaps, 79% cmp pct, 242 yds allowed, 11 yd/comp, 0 TD

It's entirely possible that he's just not going to telegraph what they're going to do, what with a game coming up and all.

I’d rather watch Frankies mom run around lost on the field than Niemann to be Frank.

I hate agreeing with you, but Chief fan ignores this completely in favor of sharpening their pitchforks and adding gas to the torches.

Spags has done a wonderful job for this team the last two seasons and now he has no idea what he is doing. OK.

He's been in the league for nearly 8 full seasons and has recorded ONE interception.

Same shit with Neimann. He's been contributing significant snaps on passing downs with us for at least a couple years now and has officially recorded ONE pass defensed in his career. One. 0 INTs.
I watch every Chiefs snap and I can't think of ONE significant play he's made.

I know execution falls on the players and their "want to" and playing smart etc...

But if the coaching staff isn't putting plays in proper positions to make plays, make the defense better, then that coach needs to be replaced.

From playing Ben Neimann, Dan Sorensen and now Hitchens over Bolton (remains to be seen, we'll see...), I've almost completely lost all confidence in Spags.

Unpopular opinion, but Bob Sutton's defense was much better with exception to the 2018-19 team. At least that team was able to get to the QB. This season's defense isn't particularly good at anything.

Unless there's some miracle turn-around, Spags should be replaced after this season. He probably won't be, Reid is pretty favorable/loyal to his coaching staff. I just hope it's not another DV/GRob scenario.

Yeah, I'm sure there's been a TD-saving tackle or something we're not remembering, but it's really tough to remember big plays he's made. And he's played a majority of the snaps! And he's been here for years!

Literally the only splash play I can remember off the top of my head was the 2019 game @ Denver. I believe he forced the fumble on a sack that led to a TD.

Agree with that 100%.

Even Bob Sutton's 2018 defense was better than this.

Steven Nelson wasn't caught out of position so much as he just...wouldn't turn his head and play the ball. It was so excruciating to see guys in position but not make the play. As opposed to this year's debacle, where you literally have guys on the field just throwing their arms up in the air, because there's no way anyone can make the play...which just leaves me numb.
