Good Skateboard recommendation for 8 year old?

I've never skateboarded, but my kid wants one... any idea which is a good choice for a little turd?

Any board is fine. Just make sure you hit him over the head with it hard enough to get the point across that skaters SUCK

No, it's mine. I'm not sure what Mo means by "youth culture," but I did skate (mainly as a means of locomotion, mind you) and I did listen to the typical skate music (Black Flag, TSOL, etc.).

I don't know why anyone would be surprised by that.

Like I said, I only had one and I still have it. I never had the need for another.

For kids, you need to go for a skateboard that is more stable and has comparatively bigger tires. I gifted my nephew GASACIODS a mini cruiser and we are very happy about it.

It's been a year and it's still as good as new. And it offers extra support for beginners to learn.

Who names their kid Gasaciods? Your nephew must have been made fun of a lot. Why make it worse with getting him a PT cruiser?

I got my 9 y/o (at the time) a OneWheel Pint. It can go practically anywhere, from pavement, gravel, grass, etc. I'd recommend it. Just make sure he has the protective gear. This is her riding with a bike helmet. I got her a new skate helmet after this video was shot.

I think how one acts is a reflection on how they were raised and has little to do with what sport they play.

My best friends and I (all skaters) were very respectful to everyone and enjoyed the challenge of skateboarding. It teaches you physical toughness and mental dedication.

I will say all of the skating in my youth has prob been bad for some of my body parts: (Knees) @ 40yo, but at the same time... most likely helped to keep me slim.

I found my old board in my storage unit when I moved into my house. Let it collect dust until one day I asked the neighbor kid if he wanted it.

I had this board when I was a teenager too. Loved it.

I used to have a Gordon & Smith board. Loved that board!

Bennett Pro trucks
Road Rider 4 wheels ( one of the first with encased bearings)

That board was almost a $100 in the 70's..

They now go for $400 on ebay.
