NFL is Rigged: Week 18 edition

The CP consensus is that the NFL is rigged. Welp, as such, I think it’d be great to discuss this week’s script.

The NFL is rigged, so this should be easy. As easy as predicting a WWE In-Ring interview being rudely interrupted by a rival with a steel chair.

Call your shot, what kind of week 18 shenanigans is the NFL up to?

Las Vegas vs L.A: Which new stadium does the NFL prefer? TWO teams in L.A make the playoffs?

Will the NFL write in a tie game sending BOTH to the playoffs?

Will they sneak the Steelers in for one last hoorah for Ruthlessraper?

Or will they write in Lamar Jackson because he generates ratings?

Will they give the most prestigious player (Mahomes) the #1 seed, or do they want to see the Chiefs in the WC round for extra ratings?

And yes....it was "rigged"/"steered" when the Chiefs won also. I don't really give a damn because they won, but yea....still rigged.

You can keep apologizing...I really dont care. This is legit my last season of following the sport in any depth. Might tune in for an occasional watch...but my interest is pretty much over.

So rejoice...I wont be posting too much about it anymore. You guys can echo chamber your undying love for entertainment sport.
I was pulling up posts last season to point out this season's theory is about 15 months old... you literally said your only concern as a betting person last year was the Raiders making it to the playoffs, right before they lost 5 of 6 and missed the playoffs.

And now it's back, new stadium conspiracy, because the NFL is obviously trying so hard to get the Raiders into the playoffs, they're a combined 16-15 the past two seasons and at risk of missing the playoffs again.

I'd give the theory another few years though... much past 2026, it'll need to be a conspiracy over market share or something.

And not sure what I'm apologizing for... I've said many times that I have no freakin' clue what happens and just that I know refs completely botch great games sometimes (and not just when the Chiefs lose). I'm also not going to make up a theory and then conveniently fit outcomes into it.

Like I said...it's entirely within your right as an individual to pick and choose where to put your loyalties...and what entertains you.

I've been indifferent this whole season...really my only engagement was calling them out for their ****ery. Which I have...calling those two upsets..and only those two... should be a warning flare. I wanted to expose them for ruining what I used to enjoy...

Mahomes playing for the team I grew up watching is the ONLY reason I'm still watching...but they already won a SB. It's become redundant...I'm not interested in watching athletics that are controlled at the end to maximize profits.

I have other outlets for fiction...

I'm here too. I would not have said this about the NBA in the 80s and 90s. But I think you paint the NFL as I see it perfectly.

What I wish, is the NFL would put out something admitting the egregiousness of the officiating from Sundays game. Just admit it, apologize and we can move on (ish).

oh boy THIS again.

My take:

The NFL is not rigged, but there are definitely unconscious biases in the refs minds that even they are unaware of.

Explains why Tom Brady gets all the calls. He is the golden boy, the GOAT, so unconsciously the refs flag DPI and roughing the passer because you can't do that to TB12.

Obviously if a game is out of reach, it makes no difference, so it goes unnoticed.

But stuff like "forward progress was stopped" in the titans playoff game, I have no answer for. just makes no sense whatsoever, the person reffing is just a chump idiot.

But same as with any person judging something with human eyes and ears. There's the unpredictable human element that goes one way or the other. Until there are robot refs and cameras verifying everything (give it time), it ain't gonna change.

AWS should get off their asses and stop self-stroking over their Next-Gen stats and use all that data to officiate a better game. #StatThatAsshat

Stick to irrational, emotional posts and outbursts....it's what you do best.

Honestly, the only prediction I was wrong about was this week's Chiefs/Bengals....and we all witnessed what it took. Chiefs blowing the doors off of them...only to score 3 points in the second half....kind of like a lot of other KC games...1st Tampa meeting comes to mind. They looked like an entirely different team...this happens with some frequency. *cough*
You didn't follow the rules of my gambling thread, therefore no bets were "won".

End of the day, I'm in the same spot, except from an angle of sheer incompetence from the refs and complete lack of accountability. The results are the same no matter what you believe produced them.

From the Herm years until Mahomes was drafted, I watched less and less due to the product on the field (among other reasons, like 50% commercials and the lack of decent teams).... and then last season I quickly went from unbridled enthusiasm to rage, watching the refs' completely unacceptable level of bullshit in the SB.

This past weekend was a reminder of how complete incompetence can determine an otherwise great game (and I'm really only talking about the DPI on the comeback/wrong route).

I'm not ready to give up those other 58 minutes for one terrible call, but I'm already far less enthused this season at potentially going back to KC or doing anything special for the playoffs and/or SB... and repeats of last year's SB might land football into "something that's on", at the very least, which royally sucks.

The NFL hasn't been a good product in years overall, and can even be ugly when Mahomes is your QB... and then add completely incompetent refs who can turn games and determine outcomes...

A business owner would never let incompetent employees ruin the experience of their customers every single week.

Why does the NFL allow it?
