So why is Thibodeaux falling out of the top 10 in some mocks?

Did he piss in everybody's corn flakes?

Look, I'm down with trading up to go get our favorite pass rusher, but if we're in a position to grab Thibodeaux because other teams decided they didn't like him as much as draft gurus predicted they would, then what's wrong with him? And does that mean we should be wary of going up to get him if he does happen to fall?

Suggesting he got his "ass kicked" when he was doubled by guards and TEs for the entirety is a gross overstatement. They made it a point to take him out of the game because they knew nobody else could get pressure. It worked out great for Utah, even though he still got tackles and even a sack in the 2nd matchup.

If you have a guy that command double-teams to deal with him, you'd sure hope that, at the NFL level, someone else will step up and take advantage of that. With a line that includes Chris Jones, I'd like my chances.

I'm hopeful Veach goes up for this kid but I can't get hopes too high, the chances are slim he drops far enough for it to matter.

You know how Jalen Ramsey “rubs people the wrong way”?

Thibs is the same type of guy. Brash, arrogant and calls out opponents.

He also has “business decisions” on and off the field in terms of why he chose Oregon and his effort in some games…leading to a lot of motivation questions if he goes to the wrong team.

I’d LOVE to have him in KC, but understand why a lot of teams won’t draft him.

I do think it's fair to point out that better prospects than Thibodeaux have been undone by desire issues. And I have always felt that DL prospects are especially prone to being undercut by them if/when they exist.

That said, Thibs would likely be used in a 'flashier' role here so I'm less concerned by it than I would be by someone we intended to use as more of an SDE or IDL. I think we'd essentially treat him like we treated Hali and Ford - see QB, hit QB. And that may paper over some of those issues even if they are legit. Getting those sacks may be enough to keep him running hot early in his career and then you hope he matures into someone who's motivation goes beyond his own numbers. Jared Allen was a great example of that sort of thing.

Honestly, I'm in no position to weigh in either way. It's beyond any of our pay grades. But I'm also not one to hand waive those concerns either - they really can ruin a talented player. The margin between success and failure in this league is just so razor thin that someone who isn't getting the most out of his ability can easily just fade away.

This is going to seem like a lazy comparison because they both played DE for Oregon, but I promise I had forgotten this guy was a Duck before I looked him up. Dion Jordan is a really good example of someone who had all the talent in the world and simply didn't give enough ****s to make himself matter. He loafed for a couple years, smoked himself out of the league, then got his head screwed on a bit but had lost too much talent to time and apathy before just fading away.

You've gotta give a **** or you won't make it at this level.

People claim he didn't try as hard last year but he was also injured. I think its more likely just prospect fatigue

If you told me right now I could give up 29 and 94 this year and our second next year, or our 2 firsts this year to get Thibs…I’d take that deal right away before you had a chance to think about it.

I love his game and this mouth doesn’t bother me at all.

But I’m also a huge fan of Ramsey.

Same. If there is any kind of remote actual chance to get him go get it done. He's the 1A/1B best player at our biggest position of need.

Sure, Hutch is pretty complete, is a darling with the media, and is "safe." Walker has insane upside but he's not there yet. I don't care, Give me Thibs over both.

Now, if he slides, I honestly don't care why. TJ Watt slid too.
This. I'd add onto this that the ****ing guy played hurt all year too. He could've easily taken the rest of the season off and just prepared for the draft the way many dudes have....

He didn't. He went out there every game on a gimpy ankle and still produced. He wanted to be with his teammates. Had he been selfish he might be the #1 guy right now.

Really hope this is Veach's guy in 48 hours.
