A win is a win

You never apologize for a win in the NFL.

This!

Mahomes and Reid have lots of experience and it shows. Mahomes was brought along in the same system over the years and that is preferred by any QB.

The Raiders have a very inexperienced rookie head coach, an OC who has his dad helping him, and a young QB who hasn't been developed in a way that would be preferable.

Aside from the fact that we won, there were some other good things about the game. Worthy is playing a bigger role and doing it well. He not only always gets open and has good hands, but I think it’s clear He runs good roots. And Hopkins is getting more integrated into the offense.

Our replacement replacement kicker played well. We really haven’t missed a beat since Butker was injured, although it would be great to have him back.

And it’s always better to be lucky than to be good. And we certainly have been lucky this year. Maybe it’s because we’re Destiny‘s child this year. And that will stand us in good state for our 3 peat.

I thought Karlaftis played a great game, and Jones finally contributed, although he has not been the dominant force we have been used to in past years. I thought Bolton played well.

Then there was the not so good.

Mahomes didn’t have an A game —-again. But we have to live with that. We certainly aren’t going to find a better QB and we will all keep hoping/expecting him to recover the magic when he needs to. He did that at the end of the Panthers game.

For the second game in a row, and maybe even the third game because I think you could include Buffalo here, the defence played well below expectations. they weren’t able to close the game down and stop the other team from moving down the field at the end and putting themselves in a position to win. Today luck saved us, last week Mahomes saved us, but no one saved us against Buffalo. But hopefully Omenihu will make a difference, although he didn’t today, and shouldn’t have been expected to on his first game back. I always thought we would miss Snead and we have not been able to make up for what he contributed. But I’m optimistic that The defence will get out of a slump and return to the elite form. It was at the beginning of the year.

The ugly:
Morris wasn’t even being destroyed by Max Cosby, but by a no name, DE who he made look like Reggie White. Hopefully Humphreys will be the answer and sooner than later. And I guess until then they will have to see if Thuney can replace Morris as he did at the end of the game. Obviously that was not ideal, but it wasn’t the disaster that Morris was. Taylor wasn’t much better at RT, but he was facing one of the best in Max Crosby so at least that was understandable. I wonder if they need to play more 2 TE SETS WITH ONE OF THE TIGHT ENDS, MAINLY BEING ASSIGNED TO HELP BLOCK. I THINK WE WOULD STILL HAVE RECEIVERS OPEN GIVEN THE SKILLS OF HOPKINS, KELSEY, AND WORTHY , and even juju.

I also think the play calling was bad and we should not have abandoned the run so completely in the second half.

But, a win is a win. And trying to work through these problems from a 11 and 1 record is a good position to be in. We seem to be able to play it well enough to just win our games (with the Buffalo exception – but we had to lose one) and close to almost losing our games. Given the way we’re playing now the remaining games are going to be struggles, but if lady luck stays with us and we can solve some of these problems, I still think we can get the first seed.

A win is a win but Nate Taylor reported this little nugget:

The Raiders became the first team since at least 2000 to commit a giveaway in the final 30 seconds when in field goal range (within the opponent’s 35-yard line or closer) and trailing by one or two points, according to the Associated Press.

So I'll enjoy the win. There are good and bad things for KC going forward but a win is better than a loss. And I also take some joy knowing that Raiders are going to Raider.

Hilarious reading two bills drive comments on the Chiefs winning the game.

I mean they are legitimately pissed that we pulled off the win.

I was almost feeling bad the those bills fans. I kind of like it that the Chiefs twist the knife in the final moments of these games.

It gets other fan bases steaming mad.

If this team had decent tackles we wouldn't be talking about offense at all. They are sinking the offense. Period.

Don't know what more you wanted from the defense. They gave up one touchdown that wasn't a short field (26 yards). 10 legit points. All three missed FGs were 55+. Those are stops.

After giving up a TD to start the 4th quarter they finished with three more stops. Eight total stops in 11 drives. Geez come on.

Its more about a pattern, of not being able to hold a 2 score lead, than total points given up.

Nailed it!... They could "get by" with one sub par Tackle, but not when the other one can't play the position.

Start at LT and go from there. Fix that, and most of the other stuff is manageable.

I'm scared for Mahomes thinking of who we have left to play.
That Vikings team, as well as the Steelers team in 2020 that started 11-0, had a crazy weak schedule.

We have had a pretty tough schedule all things considered. The situations are not the same.

They got abused by a bad offense. The Raiders were the worst rushing offense in the league prior to yesterday. Their collection of shit tier RBs churned our nearly 5 YPC against us. They also gave up like 350 yards to a scrub QB who hasn’t even played this season.

The overall result wasn’t terrible due to external factors but the execution on a play-by-play basis was poor. There is no denying it.

And, yeah, it’s a long season. A win is a win.

If we go on to win the Super Bowl, this will be just like requiring OT to beat a 1-11-1 Davis Mills-led Texans or a shitty Malik Wills Titans team in 2022. Or losing three games in December of the 2023 season.

We’ll say “who cares?”.

But if we somehow fall short this year or, God forbid, have an unceremonious first-round playoff exit, everyone will point to these razor sharp margins of victory as signs of deeper issues that were never fixed.

If we can just hold onto the 1 seed, then we should all be happy with this regular season.

Getting 2 home games to go to the Super Bowl instead of 3 games with at least 1 on the road is huge.

I’d sure feel better if Buffalo could drop another one before us though.

Overall I feel pretty good about this season. We have had a ton of injuries to major contributors. I know that happens league-wide but you really can’t just hand wave playing most of the season without your WR1, WR2, WR4, RB1, DE2, DT2, and CB2.

Anyone want to imagine how much worse the Bengals’ season would look if they were missing Chase, Higgins and Brown all year long with a turnstile at LT? Or the Ravens if Lamar was short Derrick Henry, Zay Flowers and Bateman? Or the Bills if Josh Allen was down Cook, Shakir and Cooper?

The 49ers and Rams have both dealt with massive injuries like we have and they’re struggling to maintain a .500 record. Even if you flip a few of these one-score wins, we’d probably still be like 7-5 at the absolute worst with one of the more difficult schedules this year.
