This is how rumors start.

Wilkerson and Jared Allen were the only non pieces of shit on those Vermeil DLs. Was actually a pretty decent player who could have been more widely recognized for his level of play league-wide if he weren't surrounded by so much garbage talent.

RIP

EDIT: Forgot about Derrick Ransom, too, but I could also just be remembering him as being way better than he was compared to what was around him

It's really rare for me not to remember even the most obscure players on the roster after the year 2001 or so. Oddly enough, I have no recollection of him.

I would've guessed he was more than 43 years old. It seems like forever since he played.

I was a Wilkerson fan and thought he should get a shot at starting. But I don't think he ever cracked our lineup.

He did nothing for the Chiefs, left, and instantly became a solid rotational pass rusher. Robinson, Gunther, and Herm couldn't get 50 cents out of a gold bar.

Looking back, Allen's production was a goddamned miracle.

I half-suspect that Allen's success is because he was somewhat uncoachable, so they couldn't ruin him.

Was that during the era where our DL line coach was Tim Krumrie, who thought that coaching meant yelling at people to play better?
