The worst possible pick...

Of the players projected to go in the first round, which player would be the worst possible pick Carl could make at #23? Please only list players who have been projected as first round picks in at least one reputable publication.

Look at his junior year and then look at the way he played better at the end of his senior year versus the beginning. He was working the injury out, IMO. Plus, I'm pretty sure that he shifted from right outside to the middle from his junior to his senior season.

He would have been a top ten easy if he had opted to come out in his junior year, IMO.

I concur, but still it's bothersome

The great thing about these kind of debates is that time will tell.
Compared to the offensive players of his day, Spielman was fairly athletic.

The speed of the game has changed greatly.

But maybe it was just his knee that was causing it, could very well be.

This question should be rephrased to the worse possible realistic pick.

For example, I don't consider us taking Greg Olsen a realistic possibility with Tony still going strong.

So IMO the worse possible realistic pick could probably be...

Tank Tyler. I think he'd be a reach at 23rd. I think he's clearly behind Okoye & Branch. Nobody was talking about this guy until he recently had a good workout.... No thanks.

And what I mean by realistic is by guys I believe would could very well draft.

(Jarrett, Meachem, Tyler, Ginn, Staley, Ross, Blalock, Rice)

I think any one of these guys could easily be a Chief come draft day.

As much as everyone would hate it, if Olsen was still there at 23, don't think for a second Carl wouldn't pull the trigger.

I'd replace him with Rice on your list, and add Darrelle Revis, Chris Houston and possibly Carriker or Timmons.

I have a feeling we'll be very surprised with the pick come draft day.....

And re: Tank Tyler, many, many people were talking about him before his workout. Just not here.

IIRC, Marcus McNeil had a poor Senior Bowl also.....

Could be wrong, maybe it was workouts. Something made him drop, and Sandy Eggo is reaping the benefits.....

Great hands?

The three times I watched OSU, he dropped 2-3 easy catches each time.

I'd be pissed of if we picked Sidney Rice.

Souldn't have to worry about that, IMO. Just a guess, but if Jarrett and Meacham are gone at 23, were going CB.

I said Daymeion Hughes a month ago, so I'll stick to it, even though his stock has dropped recently. Wouldn't be surprised (or upset) to see Revis or Houston either if the above WR's are gone....

what about Tony Ugoh? Where is he slated to go now? I have always kind of thought it might be between Ugoh or Houston from Arkansas. I just don't know if Herm will draft a CB this early with his reputation of being able to find good CB's later in the draft.

Have we even brought him in for a workout? I know we brought in Meachem. I really would like to see us draft him or Ted Ginn Jr. Ginn is too much of a playmaker and is too explosive offensively to really pass up and he would definately help on ST.

I have never been a fan of any Spurrier groomed WR.

I hear CAR is wanting to shop Kris Jenkins for pick(s). If Carl could somehow jump on that, theres no way we dont go WR or CB in the first round.
