ChiefsCountry's Final Chiefs Mock

ChiefsCountry's Final Chiefs Mock

1. Sedrick Ellis, DT USC
Chiefs stay put at #5 at take the monster DT out of USC. Ellis gives the Chiefs the push they need up the middle of defensive line. Should help the pressure of our ends who will need it even more since Allen is gone.

1. Braden Albert, G Virginia (projected trade with Buffalo at 11)
Chiefs trade #17 and #66 to Buffalo for #11. Of course they would do some swapping of late round picks to make it exactly even, it comes up 40 points short. Chiefs nap Albert, fills the hole at right guard since Will Shields retired. Of course the Chiefs could try him out at left tackle as well, but with McIntosh an adequate left tackle the rush isn't there to put Albert at tackle.

2. Gosher Cherilus, OT Boston College
Right tackle is the Chiefs biggest need in the draft. Cherilus could very well end up being one of the top right tackles in the league. He was pretty dominate at right tackle but struggled at left tackle for BC. Also the Chiefs have interest in him because his offensive line coach in college is the brother of the Chiefs offensive line coach. If he gets past Pittsburgh and San Diego, this could be the Chiefs pick.

3. Reggie Smith, CB Oklahoma
Smith is a player that had been a first round talent up until the Oklahoma pro day. Might project more as a safety but could be a darn good corner in the Cover 2.

3. Donnie Avery, WR Houston
Chiefs get Bowe's helper in the third. Also could be a returner.

4. Brian Johnston, DE Gardner-Webb
Chiefs always seem to pick a player from the I-AA ranks. Johnson has been a steady riser up the draft boards, and with DE a bigger need now, he could see action immediately.

5. Craig Stevens, TE California
This is one of the worst kept secerts in the draft that the Chiefs like Stevens. He is the best blocking tight end in the draft, Chiefs get Dunn's replacement.

5. Dwight Lowery, CB San Jose State
Perfect corner for the cover 2.

6. Taylor Merhaff, K Wisconsin
Chiefs screw the Donks over by taking the kicker out of Wisconsin.

6. Kory Lichtensteiger, C Bowling Green
Chiefs get backup center who could push Niswanger

7. Chase Ortiz, DE TCU
Smaller type end who could provide pass rush in the Cover 2

7. Xavier Omon, RB Northwest Missouri State
Late round pick, who knows really – local kid that I like.

Unfortunately, I don't think Omon will be there in the 7th. He seems like a 6th rounder at the latest. Any other year and he'd be a 4th... but the RB depth this year is tremendous.
