Any BBQ/Smoker aficionado's ever use the Orion Cooker?
Orion Cooker
Sounds like it might be worth a try. Anyone use one or know someone who has? I've seen them at Home Depot and would like to know if it would be worth the $150. Also, on the Home Depot website, 13 of 13 customers rated it 5 stars, giving rave reviews. Last edited by aturnis; 07-18-2008 at 10:56 PM.. |

Looks like a cheater rig to me but those cook times and capacity are pretty amazing. I have a traditional 1/4" offset firebox smoker and I can't come close to those times. I'd really have to be creative in order to fit a 24 lbs bird and 6 racks of spares too.

I use our Orion for chicken only. The cook times are just as advertised, the only thing that has always gotten me about it is that it's basically just an oven. If you want a "clean" tasting piece of meat it's great, but I go back time and time again to the Good-One for real BBQ taste.

I haven't used one, but if you are looking for a smoker I'd suggest spending a few extra dollars and getting the weber smokey mountain. Amazon sells them at times for $180 or so w/ free shipping. What I've heard about the Orion is that it takes a lot of charcoal and food doesn't taste like bbq.
