Italy's State Police On Duty in New Lamborghini Cop Car

If you just so happen to be visiting central Italy, you might want to start watching your speed very, very carefully. The Italian State Police have just taken delivery of a brand new pursuit

car - the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4, which will be patrolling the region of Lazio.
Where some police departments have the occasional exotic for parades and shows, the Gallardo LP560-4, with 560 horsepower, all wheel drive and a top speed of 326 km/h, is a full-out police cruiser. Beyond the siren bar and the official blue and white livery, the LP560-4 Polizia features integrated communication equipment, a gun holster and a Paletta, a hand-held sign used to flag down offending motorists. Lamborghini also fitted the Gallardo with a hidden video recorder to capture speeders in the act, and a portable, wireless screen to play back the footage.

In addition to chasing down baddies, the Gallardo is capable of doing double-duty as a high-speed organ transporter as it’s got a specialized refrigeration compartment. Other medical equipment items on board include a defibrillator and a safety kit.
And for those curious about the cruiser's reliability. the Italian police currenty operate two Gallardos currently on their fleet; one serves the Rome area and has 140,000 km on its odometer, and another in the Bologna area with 100,000 km. Aside from scheduled servicing, neither vehicle has suffered
