My completely premature assessment of Herm's drafting with the Chiefs.

A

FS Jarrad Page -- Solid, but not great, safety. Nonetheless, Herm's best 7th.
WR Dwayne Bowe -- Has the tools to be a Pro Bowler. Needs a QB.
CB Brandon Flowers -- Has been everything the Chiefs hoped he'd be so far.

B

SS Bernard Pollard -- People hate on Pollard, but he's played solidly. No major complaints.
DT Tank Tyler -- People hate on Tank, too, but he's still raw. I see a good deal of promise.
OT Herb Taylor -- May become an A if he gets a legit shot at RT. Herm's best 6th.
DT Glenn Dorsey -- Done a fairly good job this year as an adjusting DT. Hopes are still high.
OT Branden Albert -- About all you can ask from a guard-turned-LT.
TE Brad Cottam -- Lots of promise to be Gonzo's heir.
CB Brandon Carr -- Don't know if he's starter material yet, but this kid's incredibly promising. Great 5th.

C

DE Tamba Hali -- When you spend a 1st on a DE, you expect way more. That said, he's a natural LDE.
RB Kolby Smith -- Looked great his rookie year, looks unsure this year.
RB Jamaal Charles -- We've seen too little to actually know.
SS DaJuan Morgan -- I like what I've seen on special teams. This guy could be good.
OT Barry Richardson -- We've seen too little to actually know.

D

QB Brodie Croyle -- Freakishly fragile, not too bright, and couldn't beat Huard to start in 2007.
WR Jeff Webb -- Had an okay couple years, but simply doesn't exist anymore. Standard 6th.
DL Turk McBride -- Has had every chance to make an impact on this team, has taken none.
TE Michael Allan -- The Chiefs dumped this guy but I thought the ability could have been there.
WR William Franklin -- His injury might have set him back, but he has just been invisible.
DE Brian Johnston -- Standard 7th, hasn't done much but has shown great motor.

F

CB Marcus Maxey -- A never-was who looked awful every game he played.
OG Tre Stallings -- Will Shields' trainee never took off anywhere but River Falls.
K Justin Medlock -- Perhaps the worst draft pick of the Herm Edwards era.

WTF?

KR/PR Kevin Robinson -- Who drafts a kick returner with a broken leg?
TE Michael Merritt -- Seems like a wasted pick, but he SHOULD get a chance.

Jarrad Page
is a "C" in my book for lack of tackling skills
Turk McBride
is a "B" who could be an "A" in the right position (they have played him all over the line) and with the right coaching.
Brandon Albert
Is an "A" he has just had some unfortunate accidents.
Jeff Webb is a "F"

Everything else I pretty much agree with.

I think with better coaching we could have a dominate defense in a year or Two

-- I agree, he has played well for a 7th.
WR Dwayne Bowe -- I agree. Without the Bowe show, it would be pretty boring on Sundays
CB Brandon Flowers -- He rocks. Buehler=happy

B

SS Bernard Pollard -- I'm on board here too. More importantly, I still see improvement. But the whiff action he insists on continuing is frustrating occasionally. I might put him a C
DT Tank Tyler -- Yeah, with the time it takes to adjust, I'm not gonna hate too much
OT Herb Taylor -- I honestlyy don't know enough to comment.
DT Glenn Dorsey -- Too early to tell. Hopefully he gets a new staff.
OT Branden Albert -- "A" IMO, they leave him alone a lot and he still does a pretty nice job. Has given up a sack or 2 but this guy gets a load of slack from me.
TE Brad Cottam -- Pretty early, but before he can win me, he needs to stay injury free.
CB Brandon Carr -- For a 5th, I put him at "A". He makes lots of good plays.

C

DE Tamba Hali -- Probably a "D" for me. His complete disappearance for this year PISSES ME OFF.
RB Kolby Smith -- Maybe move him up to a "B" Maybe leave him. I loved the pick from the beginning, but the dude REALLY has to quit getting injured.
RB Jamaal Charles -- Move this guy up to a "B". I think if this team had a decent staff, this kid could be special. Herm insists on running him up the goddamn middle and he STILL does a nice job. If this staff would get him the ball in space, he could be deadly.
SS DaJuan Morgan -- Lots of draft hype here. Hopefully he pans out. ****, hopefully John McGraw is never on defense ever again.
OT Barry Richardson -- Too early. But I've seen enough to know him or Herbie needs to take McInvag's job a long damn time ago.

D

QB Brodie Croyle -- I think he's an "F" now. Maybe with a non-Herm coaching staff, but unfortunately that's the breaks. Damn it, I had such hope for him.
WR Jeff Webb -- Why is he on the team. "D" is probably right
DL Turk McBride -- I think we could move him up to "C". He's not good, but has made some hustle plays, and could be fair in rotation.
TE Michael Allan -- Agree, I'm surprised they dumped him so soon.
WR William Franklin -- Meh, it's too early to rate him that low now.
DE Brian Johnston -- Pretty darn early

F

CB Marcus Maxey -- Agree
OG Tre Stallings -- Agree
K Justin Medlock -- This is a new level of aweful draftpick

WTF?

KR/PR Kevin Robinson -- I thought Merritt's leg was broken and this kid hurt his knee in Training camp.
TE Michael Merritt -- Definintely wasted unless they move him to Guard, which I heard a little bit about after the draft.
See above.
