Is this your first Mac?
www.versiontracker.com is a great site and I would go ahead and install Quicksilver; one of my favorite tools. And congrats ;-) Did you partition the drive or do you have an external harddrive for Time Machine?

I did not partition the drive. How exactly do I do that? I haven't messed around with time machine too much, but when I did, it wanted to know my backup drive and kept scanning for it. So I just left it alone. I do have a separate HD I can use when I get back to my apartment, so that is an option.

Get Secrets.... total OS X customization.
Get VLC Media Player... best media player ever. Get Handbrake... for video everything. Get Plex.... and turn your MBP into a killer media center. Get CS4.... Adobe Creative Suite 4 Master Collection. Get M$ Office 2008... Obvious... Get TextMate... Awesome text/everything editor. Get Twitteriffic... If you use Twitter. Get Transmit3... For ftp stuff. Get Adium... It's like Pidgin for the Mac. Get Azureus... For torrents. Get Delicious Library... For cataloging stuff. It uses the iSight camera in the MBP to scan barcodes of movies/books/CDs/anything. Very handy if you over-organize.

What do you mean by torrent player? If you're talking about the Microsoft Office 2008 torrent link that I posted above, you will need to download a torrent client first, like the Azureus link I posted. Once you have Azureus installed, go back to the Office 2008 torrent link, and click "download this torrent". That will open Azureus(instead of just downloading the small torrent file), where you can download the actual Office program itself. The torrent file itself simply points the Azureus program to where all the Office 2008 files are. Tell Azureus where you want to save the Office install files, and it will start downloading it. It will take a while depending on your internet connection.

If you're not familiar with how torrents work, or if you run into any problems with opening the torrents correctly, then check out this wonderful explanation: http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showt...light=torrents
That will give you a much better idea of the process. It's quite easy once you've done it a time or two.
