Chiefs and Ravens interested in Tyree
From Wyche at nfl.com
CHIEFS, RAVENS INTERESTED IN TYREE DAVID TYREE The Chiefs and Ravens are among the teams that have expressed interest in veteran WR David Tyree, who was released by the Giants today, according to a source with knowledge of the situation. Since Tyree is a vested veteran and can sign right away, there is a chance he could be with another team within the next few days, the source said. Though both teams need help at wide receiver, Tyree is coveted more for his special-teams play. He was a special-teams Pro Bowler and is especially adept on punt coverage. However, nagging injuries and a deep receiver pool limited his availability this preseason, resulting in him being let go by the Giants. –Steve Wyche http://onthefringe.nfl.com/ |

The other 15 veteran receivers KC signed aren't good enough, yet Tyree is?

I wish David Tyree all the best -- Giants fans and the entire NFL will always remember Tyree’s spectacular catch in Super Bowl XXL11. We're happy that he will never be forgotten. He earned his Super Bowl ring -- Giants fans will also remember Tyree as an outstanding Pro Bowl player on special teams.
Unfortunetly, no one remembers that if Eli Manning did not escape the sack and Tyree did not make the catch -- It was still 3rd down. It was Brandon Jacobs 2 yd run on 4th and 1 that kept the drive alive -- If Jacobs was stopped by the Patriots defenders, things may have turned out differently. Sorry to say this. David Tyree is not a wide receiver -- the one-handed catch in the Super Bowl was basically his only successful catch as a Giants wide receiver. He played on special teams. The Giants kept Tyree out on injury in 2008 -- even though Tyree was healthy enough to play. I'm curious -- Where would you play Tyree?
