That's the only time this year where he had a "terrible" stretch...one quarter of one game.

Matt Cassel had like 4 picks through the first 6 games or so...INT's don't always paint the whole picture.
he had some bad throws in the Pats game-not as many picks but looked bad til the last drive.

Statistically? Sure, maybe. Close.

But Matt Schaub was also the guy who would put up monster 1st halves only to tuck his tail between his legs when the game mattered most and turn in awful 2nd half stretches as well as throwing costly INT's last in the game and in the 2nd half all year...

If there was an MVP for the 1st half of every NFL game over the 17 week season...Matt Schaub is my MVP, too.

you know their defense is average, at best...and only play WELL when they have the lead...

You're acting as if Peyton Manning is playing with Mark Sanchez' defense.

Their D was a top 3 team during the 1st 10 games. Then they fell a bit towards the second half of the season. They are not "average".

This.

He was on all three of my FF teams this year, and it never failed. Dude would put up 270 and 2-3 TD's in the first half, and then fell of the ****ing grid in the 2nd half.

mangina has been in that same offense for what 7 years with most of the same guys-Brett was mowing his yard til a couple of days before the season started and missed all preseason-he did that with rookies and no names. He carried that team on his back.

top 3 in what?

I don't even know what that shit means? Yards against? Points against?

I go by what I watch. That defense is nothing spectacular...they have a good pass rush on 3rd downs...that's about the best compliment I can come up with for that team.

Statistically speaking......this is one of Peyton Manning's top 3 seasons.

2009:

4500 yards
33 TDs / 16 INTs
Comp.% 68.8
99.9 rating

2004:

4557 yards
49 TDs / 10 INTs
Comp.% 67.6
121.1 rating

2006:

4397 yards
31 TDs / 9 INTs
Comp.% 65
101.0

This year he had his highest completion percentage, second highest amount of yards, second highest TDs and 4th highest rating.

Carried the team on his back? Just like Jackson did last year when he took them to the playoffs?

the excuses against Peyton Manning never cease to amaze me...

It's always weapons this or weapons that...guess what...

He made Austin Collie and Pierre Garcon look like star players this year...

He does the same thing year in and year out regardless of his supporting cast...

They benched his starting RB and starting LT against the Jets and if you rewatch that 1st half he didn't get touched one time, made every right read, and slightly overthrew Wayne once, and Clark dropped a long one otherwise they go up 21-3 at half and the Jets never make the playoffs.

The dude reads the defense and makes the right throw 8 or 9 times out of 10...he does it ever year...and I'm amazed every time I watch him play.

If they want to give the MVP to Favre, Rivers, Rodgers, Brees or Johnson...I'm not going to cry about it...I don't really even care...they all had great years...

But if we're talking about who is the most valuable player to their team...it is Peyton Manning and it is probably Peyton Manning every year...might as well rename it the Peyton Manning award until he retires if you ask me.

Agreed again.

That defense is the epitome of average.

18th in total defense.

8th in scoring defense.

14th in passing defense.

24th in rushing defense.

Manning beat the Fins by throwing for over 300 yards with less than 15 minutes time of possession. Yeah, he had a down year. Yeah, any old QB could have done that.

I'd be interested to know if it has ever been done before.

I'm guessing no.

That game may have been one of the craziest statistical anomalies I have ever seen.
