Okung and Pouncey? Did we switch our blocking scheme and I missed the memo?

If the Chiefs select Jordan Shipley, does he become Marc Boerighter V2 or Boomer Grigsby V2?

Honestly I would LOVE for us to draft Berry but experts don’t think Pioli will do it so here’s my new mock.

1. Russell Okung-OT-Oklahoma State- Just like every other mock I say we pick him and address our LT need. But instead of moving Albert to LG we move him to RG and leave Waters at RG.

2a. Ricky Sapp-OLB-Clemson- Big guy who can play standing up in our 3-4 and also put his hand on the ground when we go 4-3. Almost guaranteed a starting position in our OLB spot opposite Hali if he falls this far.

2b. Chad Jones-S-LSU- This kid has so much potential its insane. He doesn’t have the starting experience as the other Safety’s do but that wont matter once he gets his feet under him in the NFL.

3. Anthony Dixon-RB-Mississippi State- Played in the SEC and still had over 1200 yards. Would be a great Thunder to Jamals Lightning.

4. Sean Lee-ILB-Penn State- It would be great for us to get this kid in the fourth round. Experts say he has 1st round talent but a torn ACL in 2008 could have him dropping this far.

5a. Eric Olsen-C-Notre Dame- Yes he played at Notre Dame and didn’t show very much at the Senior Bowl but that why he could be great value in the 5th.

5b. Akwasi Owusu-Ansah-CB/KR/PR-IUP- We have a big need for a player who can do KR and PR without being an every down starter. He has great vision and speed.

5c. Marcus Easley-WR-Connecticut- U know he has to work hard to go from being a former walk-on to having almost 900 receivers yards his senior year and that’s in a run happy offense.

UNDRAFTED FREE AGENTS
I think we will have a lot of free agent signings after the Draft to bring in some more competition.

1. David Reed-WR-Utah- Has an invite to the combine. Very much like Wes Welker. Welker was undrafted.

2. Freddie Barnes-WR-Bowling Green- I don’t think he has an invite to the combine but his numbers were huge and we are moving towards a passing 1st team with the Weis hiring.

3. Kam Chancellor-S-Virginia Tech- Has the same body type of Mays but is much underrated because he played a VT. Could be a great find in the FA pool.

4. Thomas Welch-OT-Vanderbilt- Got an invite to the Combine so he will show teams what he can do there.

5. Shawn Lauvao-OG-Arizona State- Like all other undrafted free agents he will be a project but in 2 or 3 years he could replace Waters after learning from him.

6. Andre Dixon-RB-Connecticut- He split carries at UCONN with Todman and they both had over 1000 yards. He could be another RB battling for a spot on the team and maybe take over the 3rd RB spot.

7. Travis Goethel-ILB-Arizona State- Another prospect that will battle for a spot on the team. Could be a good contributor on SP.

If Freddie Barnes goes undrafted I will sing "Ay Ziggy Zumba" from atop Doyt Perry Stadium.

I'm not going to even get into the Albert to RG thing, but you think Waters, who has been declining at a fairly rapid pace over the last couple of years is going to be able to last another two or three years?

Holy crap!

You have us taking Okung because the experts do? You know those experts don't watch the Chiefs and they are just going off that stats from the year and don't realize how much Albert improved right?
