***OFFICIAL head coaching search thread***

So who are we going to bring in to replace Haley?

Who do you like? Do you want experienced candidates? Someone fresh and young?

Potential candidates:

Jeff Fisher
Kirk Ferentz
Josh McDaniels
Marty Schottenheimer
Mike Zimmer
Andy Reid
Jay Gruden
Rick Dennison
Todd Bowles
Rob Ryan
Dom Capers
Brian Billick
Jon Gruden
Pepper Johnson
Kevin Gilbride

NEWS

Nick Wright: Pioli believes McDaniels isn't a viable option, and Fisher is but won't offer Jeff big bucks is the bad news

McDaniels is an overrated piece of shit that ruins franchises. If he is on this team next year.....I won't watch a game.

Oh I agree I don't McFistpump anywhere near our team. What other Parcell's tree OC could be available and are viable options?

I don't get it. Was it a bad deal in the end? Yea but not Ryan Leaf, JaMarcus Russel bad. Its not even Akili Smith, Ricky Williams, or Mark Sanchez bad (seriously).

We gave a 2nd rounder for him and an old LB who helped the transition to the 3-4 defense.

Why would it be so much crow to eat to say hey, wasn't what we expected time to move on.

I guess what I am saying is contrary to what Hamas thinks, the Cassel trade sucked but isn't near as bad as probably 15-20 other trades or draft picks the last 20 years in the NFL. Its probably not even top 25 on the bad scale.

The Tyson Jackson pick is still more questionable at this point. So why he couldn't eat crow on Cassel escapes me.

I honestly hope that he doesn't. Talk about revenge. Being stuck with Orton/Cassel thus eliminating us drafting a QB, and McFistpump.

I'm looking for something bold. I would love for Hunt to take the podium and say, you know what, I made a mistake with Haley. I'm giving him a new 3 year contract and I'm making a change with Scott Pioli. I think coach Haley did a great job given the circumstances and he needs the support of the organization to hire the coaches he wants and needs more authority with personnel matters. I expect coach Haley to be in Kansas City a very long time. Kansas City needs a passionate leader on the field and the organization will do whatever it can to bring promising play makers to the critical positions on the team. We are pressing ahead with the coach Haley's vision and we wish Scott Pioli the best in new endeavors. I want the head coach of the Chiefs to have the freedom to discuss issues pertaining to the team with more openness. My vision of the KC Chiefs is to become the talk of the town and in the league. We are going to become the bold innovators that my father once was to bring the thrill of professional football into high gear.

...too bad Hunt is just another visionless republican consumed by greed.

What do you think of Haley's "passion" and "leadership" when he started Tyler ****o for 5 games?

You could be Vince ****ing Lombardi and you would still deserve to get fired for making a decision like that.

If we pick up McDaniels and retain Cassel as starter I really don't know if I'll be able to watch another game until they play a legitimate QB. I was so excited by the fact that Orton showed that anyone else with the exception of Failco could run our offense better than Cassel. I am ready for the next QB to come in and take over, whether that is Orton for a couple of years while a good draft prospect is being developed; or whether we throw Stanzi or another rookie to the fire. Anything other than the futility that we've thrown out there in Cassel.

He obviously lost his players though. I think he can be a great HC, but not here, not now, no way.

The way you guys view Clark just blows my mind.
The guy went out, and got the GM that damn near every source around the league said was the best available, and made him, IIRC, the highest paid GM in the league. He did that to WIN.
Please give me examples of hunt being "cheap" "greedy" and "visionless"
I think people who believe Clark doesn't care about winning are ****ing ridiculous.

New England Patriots offensive coordinator Bill O'Brien, whose sideline dust-up with quarterback Tom Brady made headlines a few weeks ago, has emerged as a head-coaching candidate, according to league sources, and is expected to receive overtures to interview with teams.

Working in O'Brien's favor is the fact his contract is set to expire. He loves working with Brady and coach Bill Belichick, according to sources, and making a lateral move isn't very likely, as the Patriots want to keep him. However, it's very difficult to secure top coordinators in the NFL -- teams routinely block permission for assistants to interview for lateral moves -- and O'Brien's contract status makes him, in essence, a free agent.

One job that could intrigue O'Brien is with the Kansas City Chiefs, according to a source familiar with his thinking. The team is considering lifting the "interim coach" label from Romeo Crennel and promoting him, with an offensive-minded "coach in waiting" joining the staff, according to league sources. Josh McDaniels, currently the offensive coordinator for the St. Louis Rams, will be a candidate for that role and also the head-coaching position, given his relationship with general manager Scott Pioli and prior work with quarterback Matt Cassel from their Patriots days.

O'Brien also worked with Pioli in New England, worked with Cassel and knows the system and terminology.

In an offseason in which seven teams or more could be interviewing head-coaching candidates, and at a time when there are fewer "hot coordinators" than normal, O'Brien's stock is on the rise. Playoff success with the Patriots would only boost his profile.

O'Brien also is among the list of candidates that Penn State has compiled for its opening, according to a source with knowledge of the situation.

I saw this post on Twitter. Interesting. Hope we get an interview. Him as OC/Assist Head Coach and eventual takeover for RAC could make sense.
