Franchise Tag Carr, Bowe or Orton?

So you pretty much have to franchise Carr if you can't get a deal worked out. Otherwise dude leaves to get paid and we get nothing out of it. This was a little shortsighted on Pioli's part.

there is a scenario of signing both Carr and Bowe and franchising Orton but again you have to have Carr signed.

So what would you do?

What QB are we going to draft this year that's worth taking a 2-14 season? Granted it may take that to get a good QB in the long run.

I'm all for signing a vet QB, and I think we could do a lot worse than Orton. But we can get this done without going insane.

No to Cassel, even as a backup. This team needs an enema.

If they franchise Orton I'll get a sandwich sign that says Fire Pioli and stand out in front of Arrowhead for a week.

Yeah, it's really easy. We cut Cassel, and sign Orton.

As I said earlier, if we can then great. But if it comes down to it would you throw out the franchise tag or pay Cassel?

Would you rather have Orton or Cassel? Answer truthfully, or the Ravens will bounce the Patriots from the playoffs again.

You don't have to use the tag on Orton. It's not even worth discussing.

Cassel makes 5m this year, BTW.

I am not saying it's an odds-on favorite but I'd shit if we signed Orton and the mother ****er took us a game or two deep in the playoffs.

Ok well that's quite a spread. I thought he was due more than that. If that's right then I think he is due around $16 mil for the next 2 years. I think you could get Orton signed for 2 years at $16 mil. Then if he proves himself he either becomes great trade bait, possibly, or at the least has earned the right to a bigger contract with us or someone else if we move on.

The dude does have to basically "re-earn" his stripes as a starter and I don't see anyone signing him to a long term contract as a starter.

I'm with you there but at the right price, Cassel is probably not the worst we could do at backup (see Tyler Palko). I don't think Cassel would stay as a backup though. To much of a chance at lockerroom distractions and such.
