Playoff Fantasy Challenge

This is my first year. Has anyone done (and had success) in one of these?

In short, you pick 8 players (QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, TE, DEF, K), standard scoring (not sure about PPR). If you pick a player on a team that wins, you get double points the next round. If they win again, you get triple points the next round. If you picked a guy in the first round and they make it to the super bowl, you get 4x points.

If a guy you pick gets knocked out, you can pick a new player, but the multiplying of points starts over.

Any good strategies? Would you spread your players around to different teams? Or would you essentially pick one team to ride all the way?

That's a horrendous strategy.

You want to, from the get go, pick players on the two teams you think will make the super bowl.

My best advice is tanking RBs and going with foster and say redman...but taking everyone else from your predicted super bowl winner and runner up.

I've got Pierre and Sproles with 19 points in the third quarter. If they keep going that multiplier gets real important. People picking Jordy and other Packers from the start of the wildcard last year won.

Now 30. My strategy was Saints all around. If they do happen to run the table, my risks were the D and Moore. Moore gets hot for TD's though

I think I did pretty well, but I've never done this before so not really sure.

Still have Julio Jones vs the Giants and Shawn Suisham vs the Broncos tomorrow.

well yeah because a WC team won the Super Bowl..

if that happens again this year then of course the people picking those guys from the start are going to win

EVERYONE is taking Saints...

I went the safe route and took all Packers/Patriots...

Went with this for round 1:

Rodgers
Foster (figured they'd win this game and I'd get a 2nd round multiplier)
Redman (ditto)
Jordy
Welker
Gronk
Crosby
Packers

I've never done NFL.com, but the way I interpreted the rules you really wanted to pick Super Bowl participants from the get go.

Hopefully that will work out for me, as the only two players I picked for WC weekend were Foster and Redman.

If the Patriots/Packers get to the Super Bowl I should win my league easily, as I have Rodgers/Nelson/Welker/Gronkowski/Crosby/Packers DEF locked in from the get go. So I'll be getting a 4X bonus from those guys in the Super Bowl.

Does your league assign players with a numerical value and is there a limit to the total value you can have on your team?
