Can/should Kansas City to do this?
Given the absolute disaster that is the Kansas City Chiefs, I'm not sure I believe Kent Babb's opinion in another thread stating that Clark will retain Pioli. But, I have to admit it does worry me.

Just thinking out loud here, I have a question for discussion:

What does it take for Kansas City to buy the Chiefs from the Hunt family and establish a Green Bay Packers model?

This is assuming there is a reasonable $ amount that would get Clark interested to sell. If so what are the steps, feasibility, ramifications, etc. of such a move? Seems to me a public ownership of the Chiefs will inject at least some fan say in the operation of this franchise while ensuring they will always remain in KC.

Thoughts?

The NFL won't allow it. They put a moratorium on Green Bay-style ownership years and years ago.

It pretty much can't be done. The Packers were acquired by the city in the late 30s in order to protect them from (ironically) Curly Lambeau, who wanted to move the team.

Also, in any case you would STILL have a board of directors and a chairman of some sort who runs the show and makes hires/firings. We could just as easily get another Clark Hunt in charge who doesn't want to fire Pioli (if that's what he really wants to do. Personally, I think he will fire Pioli)

I think if a fan is that unhappy with their team's owner they should switch to an organization that wants to win.

Seems simple enough to me.

Except you would hardly ever see them live unless you were willing to move just for football, and you would more than likely have to pay $200/year (or whatever) just to see them on TV each week.

Sure, there's no way in hell I'd waste my time on crap like Chiefs/Raiders or Chiefs/Browns, and I haven't spent a dime on them since the home opener against the Bills last season, but it sucks to be so apathetic and to feel like the NFL in general is going downhill.
